June is coming to a close and Xbox's successful E3 2018 is now just a memory, which means it's time for Major Nelson to share another month of free Games With Gold. Four more Xbox Games With Gold will become available in July, two Xbox One titles and two Xbox 360 titles.
July 2018's Games With Gold line-up for Xbox Gold subscribers will feature the following four games:
- Assault Android Cactus (X1)
- Death Squared (X1)
- Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown (X360)
- Splinter Cell Conviction (X360)
As with previous months, Xbox One games will be available for a full month and Xbox 360 games will be available for just 15 days. Assault Android Cactus and Virtua Fighter 5 will become available on July 1 and Death Squared and Splinter Cell will follow on July 16. Both Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown and Splinter Cell Conviction are available on Xbox One through Backward Compatibility, too.
While both Assault Android Cactus and Death Squared are smaller indie releases, they should make a lot of Xbox Gold subscribers very happy. Assault Android Cactus is an isometric twin-stick shooter with a diverse selection of playable characters and off-the-wall action. Death Squared will fill the void of puzzle games that fans of the genre have noticed in recent months.
The Xbox 360 titles for July should make up for the lack of Xbox One AAA releases. Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is arguably one of the best fighting games of the past 10 years, but is somewhat unknown in the west due to the prevalence of more popular franchises. Finally, there's Splinter Cell Conviction, which didn't get as much love as other titles in the franchise is still a great opportunity to reconnect with Sam Fisher - hopefully, with a new sequel coming before too long.
Xbox Games With Gold for July 2018 starts on Sunday, July 1, so make sure and download the remaining June Games With Gold before time runs out. Assassin's Creed Chronicles Russia and LEGO Indiana Jones 2 will be unavailable at the start of the month.
