Xbox has officially announced that the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase will take place on Sunday, June 11. While Xbox is not expected to have a presence at this year's E3 event, the company will still be hosting an E3-equivalent show to spotlight its upcoming games.

Last year's Xbox Games Showcase focused primarily on games that would be available day one on Game Pass and would launch within the next 12 months. Most of the games highlighted at that event are indeed living up to the promise, though some have slipped to later dates. It's possible the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase will maintain the narrower focus of the previous event, but it's also possible it will be used to announce new Xbox games that are coming later down the line.

Regardless, Xbox fans will have to tune in to this year's Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 11 to find out more. A specific time for the event has not been announced just yet, but finer details like that should come to light as we get closer to June 11. In fact, it's possible Microsoft will announce some of the games that will be shown during the event beforehand, but that remains to be seen.

When is the Xbox Games Showcase for 2023?

  • Sunday, June 11

The Xbox Games Showcase date announcement was accompanied by a new trailer for Starfield that confirmed the release date for Bethesda's open world sci-fi RPG. Despite being part of the games featured in last year's Xbox Games Showcase, Starfield will not release in the first half of 2023 as promised. Instead, Xbox gamers will have to wait until September 6 to play Starfield for themselves. While this is disappointing news for those looking forward to the game, the delay will hopefully result in a better experience than fans would have had if Bethesda rushed it out to meet the deadline.

It seems like a safe bet that Starfield will have some kind of presence at the Xbox Games Showcase, but even if it doesn't, fans can look forward to a deep dive on the game happening that very same day. More Starfield gameplay will be shown during a special Starfield Direct event set to take place after the Xbox Games Showcase wraps up on June 11. It's possible Starfield will get a new hype trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase proper to lead into the Starfield deep dive, but fans will just have to tune in to find out for sure.
