A new month means new games are headed to Xbox Game Pass, and while fresh titles are the major draw for subscribers, there are additional perks to look forward to. Those who have upgraded to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also have access to Ultimate Perks, which are a few extras thrown in as the icing on the cake. This month, subscribers can receive up to three perks, but they'll need to claim them.
The May Xbox Game Pass collection is definitely one to look forward to. Along with several solid games are a batch of Ultimate Perks that launch on May 4. The first is the NBA 2K21 MyTEAM bundle, which allows Ultimate members to run with two free packs, get 5,000 MyTEAM points, or snag a Series 2 Amythyst card featuring cover athlete Damian Lillard. If this perk seems enough incentive to try out the game for the first time, be sure to avoid the 10 mistakes everyone makes playing NBA 2K21 for a better experience.
The next perk is a Spotify Premium membership that includes 4 months of ad-free music but is only available to new members. There is a lot of debate as to which streaming music service is the best, so this is a prime opportunity to see how Spotify matches up to the rest. Last up are two Apex Legends Star Wars Weapon Charms, allowing players to equip both the Red Leader and Imperial Ties Charms to their weapons. This coincides with the launch of Season 9 of Apex Legends, which also kicks off on May 4. Players can show off their charms as they dive into the new content.
The perks were revealed alongside the full list of games coming soon to the service, which already includes a stunning collection of great titles. For many, all that's included is definitely worth the price of admission. The first game to be added to the Xbox Game Pass lineup for May 2021 is Dragon Quest Builders 2 on May 4, which was revealed a while back as coming to the service. Throughout the rest of May, subscribers will get access to games like Psychonauts, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, and Just Cause 4: Reloaded, to name a few.
Even those who opt to stick with the standard Xbox Live Gold subscription can look forward to additional perks in the form of Games with Gold. Two of the May 2021 Games with Gold are available now, with two more being added later this month. Members can download and play both Armellow and LEGO Batman for free until May 15. This month gives players a $79.96 value and the opportunity to unlock 4,000 points for their Gamerscore. It's worth noting, however, that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes all the benefits of Xbox Live Gold.
