A new day-one Game Pass release named Slayers X has been confirmed for June 2023, adding yet another title to the subscription service. The new game comes from frequent Game Pass partner No More Robots and the game's full title is Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer. Game Pass subscribers will get to play the 3D Realms-inspired boomer shooter, a modern satire take on Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior. Slayers X launches on Steam and both PC and Xbox Game Pass on June 1.Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer was first announced over a year ago by publisher No More Robots. It was revealed alongside Dreamsettler, a sequel to developer Tendershoot's sci-fi browser sim mystery game Hypnospace Outlaw. Slayers X is also a continuation of the Hypnospace Outlaw franchise, as it's "made by" an edgy hacker teen character named Zane. Zane's now grown up and is making a game. It's appropriately meta, befitting its Hypnospace Outlaw ties.RELATED: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers Can Claim 4 Games Right NowThe announcement of Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer's Game Pass ties was delivered via a big announcement video from No More Robots on Thursday. The trailer and accompanying press release confirmed Slayers X would be available both as a standard PC release on Steam and via both PC and Xbox Game Pass as a June release. A special beta preview level is also available for Slayers X now that can be earned by wishlisting the game on Steam.

A good amount of new gameplay for Slayers X is also shown in the new trailer. Zane, the protagonist of Slayers X, is shown shooting "psykos," making lame quips, blowing up arcades, and shouting out his internet friends. Rad weapons like an explosive sludge crossbow, a green laser-shooting sword, a scrap-shooting shotgun, a triple rocket launcher, and more are also shown.

For fans of games published by No More Robots this announcement won't be a huge surprise. No More Robots has a longstanding relationship with Game Pass, with company director Mike Rose saying not long ago the company plans to bring all its future games to Game Pass. The reach of Game Pass and its subscriber base's willingness to try new things is apparently a ripe environment for titles like Slayers X to find success in.

While Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer may not be a massive AAA game that every subscriber can get excited about, it's yet another niche title that's going to make a smaller audience very happy. Whether it's boomer shooter fans, Hypnospace Outlaw fans, or Game Pass subscribers interested in trying everything, Slayers X will be making the most of its day one Game Pass launch.
