Twitter has been abuzz with a meme involving the community apparently being paid by Xbox to promote Xbox Game Pass, and now the Xbox Game Pass page itself is getting in on the fun. The timing couldn't be any better. Xbox just made fully available Xbox Cloud Gaming to all of its Xbox Ultimate subscribers, as Xbox continues to add to the value of Xbox Game Pass.

Over the weekend a meme campaign blew up among fans involving Xbox Game Pass. Each tweet would start with the user laughing off almost in jovial disgust the idea that they were paid by Xbox to promote Xbox Game Pass, and the second half of the tweet would then basically read off a line-for-line promotion of Xbox Game Pass. Xbox joined the meme by claiming that it was absurd to think that it would pay off Twitter users to promote its brand, but then said it was almost as absurd as the low price and incredible value of Xbox Game Pass.

A detective could wonder why it is that so much excitement surrounded Xbox Game Pass on social media before the weekend of the big announcement that Xbox Cloud Gaming was becoming available to everyone, which just happened yesterday. That being said, there has been growing enthusiasm around Game Pass for months and even years, as the service continues to develop. It's been Xbox that has built it up and the community that has embraced it.

It is highly unlikely that Xbox has paid off anyone to promote Xbox Game Pass. The more likely truth is that Game Pass is simply redefining the industry, and plenty of gamers are extremely excited about that. Fans who are used to console wars may be confused or upset by fans on all sides of the aisle being genuinely intrigued and thrilled by what Xbox has to offer with Game Pass and Cloud Gaming. But the reality is that Xbox just came off of an E3 Showcase with Bethesda where 27 of the 30 games shown will be available on Xbox Game Pass--and that is a change that many are elated about.

Xbox Game Pass may slow down eventually, but it is not this day. Right now the service appears to be at an all-time high, and the momentum is carrying it upwards. According to reports from Microsoft, the subscriber count continues to grow. And with grassroots meme campaigns (or paid ones depending on one's outlook), Xbox Game Pass looks to continue to expand in number thanks to more games coming to the platform, the idea that Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available to all, and more. Meme or no meme, the service appears to be a solid value.
