Microsoft’s subscription-based service Xbox Game Pass regularly adds and removes games from its lineup, sometimes a significant number, though the roster of available titles for subscribers always surpasses 100. A total of seven games will be leaving Xbox Game Pass in September, including some notable ones, with eight new titles arriving to take their place.
On September 13, Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Online will be removed from Xbox Game Pass, after less than four months on the service. Two days later, on September 15, Company of Heroes, Disgaea 4, Forza Motorsport 7, Hotshot Racing, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics, and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales will also be making an exit. Forza Motorsport 7 is being completely delisted and will no longer be available for purchase from the Microsoft Store, although those who already own the game will still be able to download and play it.
Four new games have already been added to Xbox Game Pass and are available starting today: Craftopia, Final Fantasy 13, Signs of the Sojourner, and Surgeon Simulator 2. The first game, Craftopia, officially launches on September 4, so Game Pass subscribers are getting early access to the title. It is a multiplayer action survival game that offers hunting, farming, building, world exploration, and boss fights. The developers at Pocketpair are working on performance enhancements for the Xbox Series S/X versions of the game that they expect to have ready within the next two weeks.
Final Fantasy 13 originally launched in 2009 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is set on the world of Pulse in a utopian floating city called Cocoon and stars Lightning, one of the franchise’s most popular protagonists. She and a band of allies rebel against fate and set out to save Lightning’s sister, who has been branded an enemy of the government. Final Fantasy 13 is one of the few games in the series to have direct sequels, Final Fantasy 13-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13.
Signs of the Sojourner is a narrative card game in which the deck represents the player’s character, reflecting life experiences. Players must take over their mother’s store after she passes away and travel to a variety of locations to gather goods to sell. Along the way, the player will come across a myriad of stories and meet new characters in a world impacted by climate change.
Surgeon Simulator 2 has been added to Xbox Game Pass as a day one launch. This zany physics-based surgery sim can be played solo or with up to three other people online for cooperative and competitive play. In addition to the main game, players can check out hundreds of community-made levels or create their own using Surgeon Simulator 2’s sandbox level building tool.
Four other titles will be added to Xbox Game Pass on September 7: Crown Trick, Breathedge, Nuclear Thrones, and the platformer The Artful Escape developed by Beethoven and Dinosaur.
