Microsoft typically adds new games to the Xbox Game Pass service in two batches each month. Usually, one batch of new games is added in the first half of the month, with the second batch added in the second half of the month. It seems Microsoft will be holding true to that with the new Xbox Game Pass games for September 2021, confirming eight titles that are being added in the first half of September.

The new Xbox Game Pass games for September 2021 will start being added on September 2, with Craftopia kicking things off as an Xbox Game Preview game. It will be joined by Final Fantasy 13 on PC and console, marking yet another FF game that is available to play on Microsoft's Game Pass service. Other games coming to Xbox Game Pass on September 2 include Signs of the Sojourner and Surgeon Simulator 2.

Then on September 7, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to the addition of Crown Trick. On September 9, XBox Game Pass is getting Breathedge, Nuclear Throne, and The Artful Escape. Out of those games, The Artful Escape may be of particular interest to Xbox Game Pass subscribers as the game is a Day One Xbox Game Pass title with a voice cast that includes Michael Johnston, Caroline Kinley, Lena Headey of Game of Thrones fame, Jason Schwartzman, Mark Strong, and Carl Weathers. It's a musical platformer and definitely looks like it has potential to be an indie hit.
