Since the start of 2022, Ubisoft has been making more and more of its big games available to play through the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. The ball started rolling when brand-new release Rainbow Six Extraction was made a day one Xbox Game Pass game, which was followed up by the addition of Assassin's Creed Origins and For Honor: Marching Fire Edition at the beginning of last month.

Now Xbox Game Pass is kicking off its slate of new games for July 2022 by adding yet another Ubisoft-published game to the mix. As of July 1, Xbox Game Pass subscribers are free to check out the open world FPS Far Cry 5 across PC, consoles, and the Cloud. No removal date has been announced, and since Xbox Game Pass games typically stay on the service for at least a year, it's safe to say that subscribers will have quite some time to play Far Cry 5 as much as they'd like.

Far Cry 5 isn't the latest entry in Ubisoft's popular open world series, but it's still one of the more popular ones. Far Cry 5 takes players to Hope County, Montana, where they find themselves at odds with a dangerous cult led by the villainous Joseph Seed. Far Cry 5 earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its original release, though many have criticized it for sticking too closely to the established Far Cry formula.

Those that have extensively played other games in the Far Cry series may come away from Far Cry 5 with a sense of deja vu, but being able to play it through the Game Pass subscription service is still a steal. Regardless of any franchise fatigue, there's no denying that the Far Cry games are consistently some of the biggest game releases whenever a new one comes out, and so it's still a big "get" for Game Pass.

Of course, Far Cry 5 is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to new Xbox Game Pass games for July 2022. Microsoft has yet to announce all the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass for July 2022, but previous announcements have let fans know of at least some of the games they can look forward to playing this month. And as it turns out, there are at least five day one Xbox Game Pass games scheduled to release in July 2022 so far.

These include titles like the co-op game Escape Academy, the narrative-driven game As Dusk Falls, and Sam Barlow's latest, Immortality. Microsoft will likely reveal the rest of the new Xbox Game Pass games for July 2022 early next week, so subscribers should stay tuned for more information on that front. They can check out Far Cry 5 in the meantime.
