Every month, Microsoft adds a slew of new games to the Xbox Game Pass lineup, giving subscribers to the service fresh games to play on a regular basis. May 2021 is no different, with Xbox Game Pass subscribers soon able to play a variety of new games, including heavy hitters like Red Dead Online as well as a few titles from publisher Square Enix, which was teased not too long ago.

The first Xbox Game Pass game for May 2021 will come on Tuesday, May 4 in the form of Dragon Quest Builders 2, and that will be followed by FIFA 21 (for Game Pass Ultimate members thanks to EA Play), Outlast 2, and Steep on May 6. All four of these games will be coming to the Xbox Game Pass service on PC and console, but Outlast 2 will also be making its way to the Cloud version of the service as well. This means that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to play Outlast 2 on their mobile devices.

The next batch of new Xbox Game Pass games will then come on May 13 in the form of Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD RemasterJust Cause 4: ReloadedPsychonautsRed Dead OnlineFinal Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster and Just Cause 4 join Dragon Quest Builders 2 as Square Enix-published games that are coming to Xbox Game Pass. All of the games are coming to the Cloud with the exception of Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD, and all of them are coming to PC with the exception of Red Dead Online.

And finally, May 13 will see Remnant: From the Ashes come to the PC version of the Xbox Game Pass service. Those playing Xbox Game Pass on console have already had access to Remnant: From the Ashes for some time now, but now PC players will get to see what all the fuss is about as well.

While Xbox Game Pass is adding nine new games for May 2021, it is also losing some titles as well. Six games are leaving the Xbox Game Pass service beginning May 15, including Alan WakeBattlefleet Gotchi: Armada 2Dungeon of the EndlessFinal Fantasy 9Hotline Miami, and Plebby Quest: The Crusades. Out of those titles, the two most notable games are arguably Alan Wake and Final Fantasy 9, with the latter especially surprising since Square Enix has been adding so many games to the Game Pass service lately.

In the meantime, there are rumors that Xbox Game Pass subscribers have some serious heavy hitters to look forward to later this year. While fans should take it with a grain of salt, the rumors suggest that games such as Battlefield 6 and Tales of Arise may be coming to Game Pass on the day that they launch, though that has yet to be confirmed in an official capacity.
