Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service is expanding yet again, with eight new titles to be released in the first half of May 2019. Headlining May's new games will be Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus from MachineGames, but there are plenty of other great titles to choose from, too. The eight new Game Pass titles will roll out starting May 2 through May 16 and will be freely available to download and play for all current subscribers.

May 2 will kick off the month in a big way. Both Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus and the indie strategy game Wargroove are the first two new Xbox Game Pass games. Wolfenstein 2 joins its predecessor on Game Pass, offering the perfect opportunity to catch up on the franchise before Wolfenstein: Youngblood likely shows up at E3 in a big way. Wargroove, initially released in February, is a great alternative for Advance Wars spiritual successor.

Starting May 9, a wave of new games joins Game Pass. First, there's Surviving Mars, a simulation game in which the player builds a Mars colony. Next is Tacoma, a narrative game set in a mysterious space station from the creators of Gone Home. Then there's Black Desert, a Korea-developed fantasy MMO. A day later, on May 10, For the King will deliver a fantasy strategy RPG to wrap up the week.

Finishing up this round of May Game Pass releases are two more games, to be released on May 16. Deck13, developers of Lords of the Fallen, will be putting out hardcore sci-fi Souls-like RPG The Surge on the service. Perhaps Deck13 is building up hype for The Surge 2, planned for release in 2019. And then, to wrap things up, there's LEGO Batman 3 coming to Xbox Game Pass, a great action-adventure game for players of all ages.

For those interested in subscribing to Xbox's subscription service, there's no better time than now. Microsoft is currently running a sales event by which new or currently unsubscribed users can buy 3 months of Game Pass for just $1. Those who are currently subscribed can join in on the event, too, with all subscription extensions discounted by 50%. That's 3 months for $15. The discount offer ends in 12 days, on May 12.

This group of 8 games makes up just the additions planned for the provided dates. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can expect more games to be added into Game Pass in May in the days and weeks after May 16.
