Although Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service offers a wealth of games for subscribers to choose from every month, the rotation eventually has to make room for more. The good news is that on May 15, Xbox Game Pass will be getting nine new games, including the RPG combo Final Fantasy 10/10-2 and the third-person action shooter with Dark Souls vibes, Remnant: From the Ashes. The bad news is that six games will be leaving the service, including Final Fantasy 10's predecessor in the series, Final Fantasy 9.
Although Final Fantasy 7 may be the most well-known game in the series, Final Fantasy 9 is frequently listed as one of the best and even one of the best RPGs ever made. The game features an Active Time Battle system and a class system that helps its diverse cast of characters become a strategic fighting team, so Final Fantasy fans who haven't yet tried this one out should grab it while it's free.
Another strategy game leaving Xbox Game Pass this month is Plebby Quest: The Crusades. This turn-based game set during the crusades of Europe and the Middle East tasks players with keeping a kingdom running while dealing with scheming neighbor countries and the demands the religious elite. Plebby Quest: The Crusades recently received its second DLC bundle called The Promised Land, which offers two unique stories for players to follow in both the Middle East and Europe regions.
The third strategy game leaving Xbox Game Pass is Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2. Fans of the Warhammer 40K universe can enjoy epic space battles with some great visuals as they command spaceship fleets in a quest to become the dominant power in the universe. Also leaving this month is Dungeon of the Endless, a roguelike tower defense game that shares a loose connection to the 4X strategy games Endless Space and Endless Legend. Players will make their way through procedurally generated levels with the imminent threat of permadeath as they guide survivors of a spaceship crash out of an alien planet.
The last two games to leave Xbox Game Pass are the action-adventure game Alan Wake and the frantic top-down shooter classic, Hotline Miami. Alan Wake was awarded the title of best video game of 2010 by Time Magazine, and although a direct sequel never made it out of development, developer Remedy Entertainment was able to take inspiration from the failed sequel to create the Xbox console exclusive Quantum Break. Conversely, Hotline Miami got its sequel Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number in 2015, which takes place partially before and after the events of the original game and has the same stylish shooter gameplay.
