Microsoft will be adding at least three day one horror games for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to try in October 2022. It's officially the Halloween season, and so game publishers are looking to capitalize by releasing brand-new horror games.

A variety of horror games from both indie developers and larger studios will release in October, and at least three of these projects are going to be available to play through Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft has not detailed all the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass for October 2022 just yet, but previous announcements have let fans know of some of the titles that they can look forward to this month.

Scorn is the first new horror game coming to Xbox Game Pass in October. Originally set to launch on October 21, Scorn's release date was recently moved up so it will now be available a full week earlier than expected. For those that haven't been following the game, Scorn was actually one of the first games ever revealed for Xbox Series X. It's a first-person horror game that uses purposefully disgusting and disturbing imagery to invoke a sense of dread in the player. The game's art style takes its cues from H.R. Giger, known for his work on the Alien franchise, so horror fans should be in for plenty of gruesome sights come October 14.

Shortly after Scorn hits Game Pass, horror fans can look forward to the addition of A Plague Tale: Requiem. The sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence, A Plague Tale: Requiem blends classic survival-horror elements with stealth gameplay, anchored by the story of siblings Amicia and Hugo de Rune trying to survive in a world infested with murderous people and thousands of deadly rats. A Plague Tale: Innocence set the bar high when it comes to the story, so chances are good Requiem will be just as engrossing.

The third and final horror game confirmed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass in October 2022 so far is Signalis. Set to join the Xbox Game Pass lineup on October 27, Signalis features a retro art style, classic survival-horror gameplay features, and sci-fi elements. It's one of the more unique day one Xbox Game Pass games coming in October 2022, and it's coming out just in time for Halloween.
