Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service already has six games announced for January 2023, though it's likely that many more titles will be added to the lineup. Microsoft usually uses the beginning of each month to highlight the new Xbox Game Pass games coming in the first two weeks, with an update in the middle of the month to reveal the rest of the titles. However, release date announcements for games that are confirmed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass let players know what to expect of some months in advance.

As it stands, all the new Xbox Game Pass games for December 2022 that have been announced so far have already been added to the service. It's possible Microsoft will have more new Xbox Game Pass additions for the second half of December, but since the reveal hasn't happened yet, that seems unlikely. Considering this, it's looking like the next time Xbox Game Pass subscribers can expect new game additions will be January.

As it stands, six games are confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in January 2023 at the time of this writing. On January 19, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden will be making their Xbox debuts as Game Pass games, while January 20 will see the launch of Monster Hunter Rise. January 31 will see the console version of Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition join the Xbox Game Pass lineup, joined by new day one game Inkulinati. And finally, the console version of Roboquest is also expected to land on Xbox Game Pass in January, but an official release date has not been announced at the time of this writing.

  • Persona 3 Portable - January 19
  • Persona 4 Golden - January 19
  • Monster Hunter Rise - January 20
  • Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition - January 31 (consoles)
  • Inkulinati - January 31
  • Roboquest - TBA (consoles)

So far, Inkulinati is the only day one game confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in January 2023, but one has to imagine that more will be announced. In the meantime, the Persona games and Monster Hunter Rise may not technically be considered "day one" releases since they have previously been available on other platforms, but they are still making their Xbox debuts day and date with their Game Pass availability.

Monster Hunter Rise in particular will have enhancements that may even convince those who have already played the game extensively on Switch to give it another look through Game Pass. In any case, the Xbox Game Pass lineup for January 2023 is already looking pretty strong, and there should be even more for subscribers to look forward to next month.
