Microsoft has officially announced that six games are leaving the Xbox Game Pass subscription service on Sunday, January 15. Barring some rare exceptions, Xbox Game Pass games have traditionally been removed on the 15th and last days of each month, and it looks like that pattern will hold true for 2023.

Perhaps due to the holidays and the new year, Microsoft has been slower on the draw than usual when it comes to the Game Pass January 2023 announcements. In fact, Microsoft just recently highlighted the new Xbox Game Pass games coming in January 2023, confirming the previously-announced Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Monster Hunter Rise games are indeed on their way. With Microsoft taking longer than usual to make its Xbox Game Pass games announcements for January 2023, fans don't have quite as much advance notice as they usually do when it comes to the titles that are leaving the service.

January 15 will be the last day that Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Nobody Saves the World, Pupperazzi, co-op shooter The Anacrusis, We Happy Few, and Windjammers 2. Most of these games have been listed in the Xbox Game Pass leaving soon section, with exception to We Happy Few, so while the official announcement wasn't made until now, hopefully subscribers have been able to play these games if they wanted. Anyone that can't stand to part with these games has until they're removed to buy them at a 20% discount.

Some Xbox Game Pass subscribers may be confused as to why We Happy Few is leaving Xbox Game Pass. After all, Microsoft owns Compulsion Games, the studio that made We Happy Few. However, We Happy Few was actually published by Gearbox, and it was already in the can at the time Microsoft acquired the studio. Considering these factors, it's not all that surprising that We Happy Few is getting pulled, though luckily Xbox Game Pass subscribers shouldn't have to worry about the same thing happening to most other games made by Xbox-owned studios.

Again, Xbox Game Pass subscribers have until January 15 to play these games before they're removed. Another batch of games will almost certainly be pulled from the lineup on January 31, so Xbox Game Pass subscribers should keep that in mind. More information on the next batch of games leaving the service should come to light at some point early next week.
