Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass service receives new games on a regular basis, but it also loses them as well. Just like the big streaming services, Xbox Game Pass titles are occasionally removed from the lineup, and the next batch of games that are leaving has now been confirmed by Microsoft. Unfortunately for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, seven games will be removed from the service in the first half of September.

Red Dead Online is leaving Xbox Game Pass on September 13, kicking things off for the departures. The Xbox Game Pass app had already confirmed Red Dead Online's departure, but now subscribers know of the six other games that are leaving Game Pass in the first half of September, all of which will be removed on Wednesday, September 15, giving fans about two weeks to check them out if they so desire.

Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving in September 2021

  • Red Dead Online (Cloud and Console) - September 13
  • Company of Heroes 2 (PC) - September 15
  • Disgaea 4 (PC) - September 15
  • Forza Motorsport 7 (PC/Cloud/Console) - September 15
  • Hotshot Racing (Cloud and Console) - September 15
  • The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics (PC/Cloud/Console) - September 15
  • Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales (Cloud and Console - September 15)

Out of these games leaving Xbox Game Pass in September 2021, arguably the two most notable are Forza Motorsport 7 and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. Thronebreaker is the latest installment in The Witcher franchise from CD Projekt Red, a spin-off game set before the events of the first Witcher title. It earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its release in 2018, and is definitely worth checking out for fans of the franchise.

Forza Motorsport 7, meanwhile, is the latest installment in Microsoft's big budget racing game franchise. Forza Motorsport 7 earned widely positive reviews at the time of its release and is generally considered one of the better Forza Motorsport games. Those who want to play Forza Motorsport 7 long-term while they wait for the new Forza game on Xbox Series X should definitely consider taking advantage of the 20% discount, as it's a bit of a special case.

Not only is Forza Motorsport 7 leaving Xbox Game Pass, but it's leaving the Microsoft Store in general. Forza Motorsport 7 is getting de-listed from digital marketplaces, which is an unfortunate reality of games that use licensed content. And with no release date for the new Forza Motorsport in sight, racing game fans may want to seriously consider taking advantage of the 20% discount while they still can.
