At the beginning of every month, Microsoft likes to announce the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in the next two weeks, along with the titles that are leaving the service soon as well. With it being the beginning of May, Microsoft has confirmed the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in the first half of May 2022, and it has also confirmed a total of seven titles that will be departing soon as well.

The first game leaving Xbox Game Pass in May 2022 is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition, which is being removed come Tuesday, May 10. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition is the remastered version of San Andreas that came as part of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. The collection was not well-received, but some GTA fans may still be sad to see it go.

Five days later on May 15, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have to brace themselves for six other games that are leaving the service. This includes indie hit Enter the Gungeon, as well as Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster. The removal of Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster means that almost all the main series Final Fantasy games have been scrubbed from Xbox Game Pass, except for Final Fantasy 13 and its sequels.

  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition - May 10
  • Enter the Gungeon - May 15
  • Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster - May 15
  • Remnant: From the Ashes - May 15
  • Steep - May 15
  • The Catch: Carp and Coarse - May 15
  • The Wild at Heart - May 15

May 15 will also see the removal of Soulslike Remnant: From the Ashes, snowboarding game Steep, fishing game The Catch: Carp and Coarse, and adventure game The Wild at Heart. Some of these games are short enough that Xbox Game Pass subscribers should have time to complete them before they are given the boot on May 15, but San Andreas and Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster may be another story.

The good news is that Xbox Game Pass subscribers have the chance to purchase these games at a discount before they're removed. As usual, Xbox Game Pass games can be bought to keep at 20% off the usual asking price while they're on the service, so while Game Pass subscribers may not have time to play through all the games they want before they're removed, they can at least try them and see if they're interested in purchasing them for their digital libraries.

In the meantime, there should be no shortage of new Xbox Game Pass games to play in May. While it's a bummer that these games are leaving the service, the good news is that there are plenty of new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in May 2022 for fans to check out.
