There are plenty of new games added to Xbox Game Pass on a regular basis, but Microsoft also removes games from the service regularly as well. Xbox Game Pass games are usually removed from the lineup in two phases, with a set of games getting the boot on the 15th of each month and another set removed at the end of the month. February 2022 is no exception, with Microsoft removing a total of 10 games from Xbox Game Pass this month.

Six games are being removed from Xbox Game Pass as of February 15, including some of the service's heavy-hitters. February 15 is the last day that Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play Control for free, which is significant as Control is one of the most critically-acclaimed action games of the last few years. Control won numerous awards at the time of its original release in 2019, so it's definitely sad to see it removed from the Game Pass service.

Another major Xbox Game Pass game removed on February 15 is The Medium. The Medium is a survival-horror game from Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team, but whereas the bulk of Bloober Team's titles have been first-person affairs, The Medium is a third-person game that has a lot in common with classic Resident Evil and Silent Hill games. The Medium was once an Xbox console exclusive, and it was one of the first-ever games that was only available on Xbox Series X and not Xbox One. This may make its departure from Game Pass especially sting for Xbox gamers.

  • Code Vein - February 15
  • Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age - February 15
  • The Medium - February 15
  • Project Winter - February 15
  • The Falconeer - February 15
  • Hypnospace Outlaw - February 28
  • Killer Queen Black - February 28
  • Stealth Inc 2 - February 28
  • Touhou Luna Nights - February 28

Code Vein, Project Winter, The Falconeer, and Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age are also leaving Xbox Game Pass on February 15. Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age is just the latest Final Fantasy game to leave the service. Other classic Final Fantasy games have been removed from Xbox Game Pass in recent months, with Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 8, and Final Fantasy 9 all being removed. Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Collection is still available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at the time of this writing, however.

The Final Fantasy games have been migrating to PlayStation Now as they've been removed from Xbox Game Pass, and it's possible that one day there will be no Final Fantasy games available on the service at all. There are rumors that PlayStation is wanting to secure Final Fantasy as PlayStation-exclusive this generation, and if so, this could very well be a part of that push.

Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age and the aforementioned five other games are being removed from Xbox Game Pass as of February 15, but four more games are leaving at the end of the month. On February 28, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will lose access to indie hit Hypnospace Outlaw, Killer Queen Black, the well-received Stealth Inc 2, and Touhou Luna Nights. But like always, anyone that wants to buy these games and keep them forever can do so if they buy them before they're removed from Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers are able to buy any game on the service at a 20% discount. This is helpful for whenever a game leaves that someone may want to play later, as they're able to get the game to keep at less of a cost than it would cost to buy the game full price. However, this discount disappears after the game is removed from Xbox Game Pass, so any subscribers that want to keep these titles should act fast.

In the meantime, Microsoft has also confirmed one game that will be leaving Xbox Game Pass on March 1. This is unorthodox as Microsoft typically wouldn't reveal the games leaving Xbox Game Pass in March 2022 until March 1 actually rolled around, and it usually wouldn't remove games on the first of the month, but this particular game is a special circumstance.

Titanfall is being removed from Xbox Game Pass on March 1. This is because the original Titanfall game has been delisted from digital storefronts and the plan has always been for the game to be pulled from subscription services come March 2022. This will no doubt be disappointing news for Titanfall fans, but the bright side is that anyone that already owns the game will still be able to play it online as Respawn and EA have plans to keep the servers online even after the game is pulled from Game Pass and EA Play.
