At the time of this writing, the only day one game Xbox Game Pass subscribers know is coming in February 2023 is first-person shooter Atomic Heart. These past few years, Microsoft has established clear patterns when it comes to new Xbox Game Pass games, typically spotlighting new titles coming to the service every couple of weeks or so. However, 2023 has seen Microsoft shift away from this pattern dramatically, leaving many Xbox Game Pass subscribers confused as a result.
Microsoft did not start January 2023 by announcing the new Xbox Game Pass games for the month, instead opting to surprise-launch the games on the service. In the meantime, subscribers were getting push notifications about new Xbox Game Pass games that haven't actually been added yet. Microsoft then released a short blog post highlighting the new Xbox Game Pass games that joined this week, but it still has yet to shine a spotlight on what the second half of January 2023 has in store.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers aren't only in the dark about what they can expect from the service in the second half of January 2023, but they also have little idea of what's in store next month as well. Typically, previous release date announcements clue Xbox Game Pass subscribers in on various titles they can expect from the service, but as of the time of this writing, Atomic Heart is the only day one game confirmed for February 2023.

On the bright side, Atomic Heart is a fairly significant addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup. The FPS from Mundfish has been hotly anticipated since its reveal a few years ago. The game has drawn comparisons to titles like BioShock and Fallout, with its Soviet aesthetic and over-the-top enemy designs turning heads. Time will tell if Atomic Heart lives up to the hype or not, but regardless it's always great for subscribers whenever Xbox Game Pass gets a new day one release.
Atomic Heart will not be the only new game added to Xbox Game Pass in February 2023, of course. However, it remains to be seen when Microsoft will pull the curtain back on the other new Xbox Game Pass games coming next month. Typically it would be a safe bet to assume the first reveal would come at the beginning of February, but this year has been chaotic when it comes to Game Pass reveals so far. Perhaps February will get the Game Pass reveals back on track, but subscribers will have to wait and see what happens on that front.
