Xbox has continued to invest heavily into its subscription gaming service Xbox Game Pass. The service is available on both Xbox consoles and PC and has made quite a big splash in the games industry. Every month new games are added to Xbox Game Pass, from small indies to massive AAA releases.

However, some of the most exciting additions for subscribers are games that are available on Xbox Game Pass the same-day of release. While all future Xbox Studios games will be added to Xbox Game Pass on day one, there are various other titles as well, including some coming to Xbox Game Pass later this month. Following that, however, there are some other big day one additions heading to Xbox Game Pass this Fall and Holiday season.

Sable - September 23

Sable is the first day-one game coming to Xbox Game Pass this Fall, and it arrives just one day after Fall officially begins. The game is focused on exploration and solving puzzles while players are given space to enjoy the game's beautiful graphics and setting. Sable's developers has discussed their inspirations at length, and the game seems as though it will be a great option for a more relaxing, meditative experience that is similar to something like Abzu or Journey.

Lemnis Gate - September 28

Lemnis Gate releases towards the end of September to wrap up the month of Xbox Game Pass additions with a new take on the multiplayer hero shooter genre. To do this, Lemnis Gate mixes in influences from turn-based strategy games. The gameplay Lemnis Gate has shown off so far looks pretty impressive and unique. Players take turns playing through the game's 20-second time loop with one of their heroes, which is repeated in subsequent rounds and both players continue to add new actions to the time loop.

Back 4 Blood - October 8

Back 4 Blood is a spiritual successor to the classic Left 4 Dead developed by Turtle Rock Studios. However, the game does bring some innovations including new playable characters with their own perks and modification cards that help randomize the game's levels on subsequent playthroughs. Back 4 Blood recently received an open beta that got a lot of positive attention from players who checked it out. Thankfully, players don't have much longer to return to shooting their way through hordes of the undead.

Age of Empires 4 (PC only) - October 28

Age of Empires is one of the most classic real-time strategy games, and Age of Empires 4 looks to revive it in true form this Fall. Fans of the series have had to wait quite a while for the newest entry, and it is great to see that it is finally nearing release after years of development. Quite a lot is known about Age of Empires 4, but it will still be interesting to see how the game will shape up when it is fully released.

Perhaps one of the biggest additions coming this Holiday season is Halo Infinite. With a new open-world campaign and free-to-play multiplayer, Halo Infinite is posed to take the series in a bold new direction when it releases this December. There is a lot of understandable excitement surrounding the game, so much so that even God of War's director Cory Barlog bought an Xbox Series X to get in on the fun when it launches.

Shredders - December

A sick snowboarding trick

Shredders was originally revealed back in June and has been confirmed to arrive on day one on Xbox Game Pass when it releases this December. An exact release date has yet to be confirmed, but boasts some very stylish graphics with particularly impressive looking physics as characters make their way down the mountain. The game does not look as arcadey or extreme as the SSX titles, but it still looks like a great time.

The Gunk - December

The Gunk is also confirmed to be coming to the service this December, although it still needs an official release date. The game looks very technically impressive with The Gunk's recent trailers showcasing its 4K visuals and action-filled gameplay. It follows a character named Rani as she explored an alien planet that is covered in a strange black goo that is the titular gunk. Developed by Thunderful, the studio behind the SteamWorld series, The Gunk is the studio's first 3D title and is definitely one to keep an eye on.

The Anacrusis - 2021

A group of four futuristic people, one holding a gun

The Anacrusis is a four-player co-op shooter styled after the 70s that sees players fighting to survive hordes of horrifying creatures with a diverse arsenal of weaponry. The developer Stray Bombay has said that The Anacrusis will offer infinite replayability thanks to a system known as AI driver, which ensures that items, weapons, and points of interest are randomly placed every time players step into the game. Interestingly, the system will even adapt the level's layout based on how players are performing, which could make The Anacrusis a very interesting shooter to check out when it releases sometime this year.

Scorn - 2021

why scorn is on xbox

Scorn is an upcoming horror game set to release before the end of the year that is heavily inspired by the chilling biomechanical designs of artists Zdzislaw Beksinski and H.R. Giger. Alien fans may recognize the Giger, while the game itself is focused on intertwining its environments, characters, and equipment to make a uniquely terrifying experience. While Scorn has received some gameplay trailers there is still a lot that fans will have to wait until it releases to discover for themselves.

Hello Neighbor 2 - 2021

Hello Neighbor 2 hopes to build on the success of the original title by advancing the impressive AI technology that powers its main antagonist. The games see players sneaking into their neighbor's home while trying to avoid the roaming AI-controlled neighbor that dynamically reacts to the player's actions and mistakes throughout a playthrough. Hello Neighbor 2 seems to be improving on the original quite a bit and offers some great new improvements and ways to enjoy the game.
