Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service is regularly adding new games to the lineup representing a variety of genres. This past month alone has seen numerous Xbox Game Pass games added for fans to check out, ranging from collections of classic games like Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection to day one releases like the Xbox port of popular horror RPG Omori. This past month has also seen some solid new co-op games added for subscribers to check out, supporting both online and local co-op options.

The first new co-op game added as part of the new Xbox Game Pass games for June 2022 was Spacelines from the Far Out on June 7. Spacelines from the Far Out is a roguelike game that bears a resemblance to titles like Overcooked in terms of visual style and gameplay. In it, up to four players have to work together to manage a transport ship that travels throughout space. The primary goal is to get the ship to its destination in one piece, but hazards like asteroids and comets and the threat of a constantly-depleting fuel tank can make matters difficult.

Not only do Spacelines from the Far Out players have to keep an eye on the various threats that can stop their voyage in its tracks, but they also have to work to keep their passengers satisfied for the entire trip. Passengers need food, entertainment, and more, and failure to provide these things will result in unruly saboteurs who go out of their way to damage things in the ship. For example, an upset passenger may make their way over to the gravity machine and break it, causing everyone and everything on the ship to float into the air. When the gravity machine is fixed, the sudden drop back to the ground may cause injuries, which requires players to have a medical station handy, and not all ships come equipped with those.

As Xbox Game Pass subscribers progress through Spacelines from the Far Out, they will have the opportunity to outfit their ship with new equipment to make things more convenient and the trips easier to complete. However, if a ship is destroyed or runs out of gas, players have to start the whole thing from the beginning with a brand-new, feature-less ship (unless they forked over the cash to insure their ship before it was destroyed, that is).

There is a sense of chaos when it comes to running the ship in Spacelines from the Far Out that is reminiscent of the Overcooked games. Add in the high stakes found in roguelikes, and one quickly has a winning formula with Spacelines from the Far Out. It's one of the better new games added to Xbox Game Pass in June, and it is an excellent choice for anyone that needs a new co-op game to play.

The other big new co-op game added to Xbox Game Pass in June 2022 is one of the service's most high-profile releases this year so far, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge has earned critical acclaim since its launch on June 16, where it debuted as a day one Xbox Game Pass game. An homage to both classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat 'em ups and the 1987 cartoon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a dream come true for many big TMNT fans.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, like many of its predecessors, features co-op play where players can play as the titular turtles as well as characters like April O'Neil, Casey Jones, and Master Splinter. TMNT: Shredder's Revenge supports 6-player co-op, so all the characters can get plenty of use in a single playthrough. There are plenty of secrets to find hidden in the stages, not to mention a slew of classic TMNT bosses to fight.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge and Spacelines from the Far Out are both great new co-op games for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to try right now, but there's even more to look forward to in the near future. As it so happens, Xbox Game Pass is set to add another co-op game on July 14, and there will be plenty more co-op titles added to the service throughout the rest of 2022 as well.

The July 14 co-op game is Escape Academy, a title where players attend the titular Escape Academy school and work to become "the ultimate Escape Room Master." Players will have the option of playing through Escape Academy in local or online co-op split-screen when it launches on July 14 as a day one Xbox Game Pass game, so it should appeal to both those who enjoy local co-op experiences and those who would rather play online.
