It's a new month, which means Xbox Live Gold subscribers have a new batch of free games to download. The Xbox free Games with Gold for February 2021 also bring the Xbox Series X into the fold as well, after the free Games with Gold for January 2021 only focused on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the original Xbox. There will be five free games available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers in February in total, with three of them available to claim right now.
Kicking things off for the free Games with Gold program in February 2021 is the Resident Evil HD Remaster. Perhaps made available to capitalize on the hype of the upcoming Resident Evil Village game, the Resident Evil HD Remaster is an upgraded version of the critically-acclaimed Resident Evil remake. It includes sharper graphics and a revamped control scheme that means players don't have to wrestle with clunky tank controls like they did back in the day.
The Xbox Series X representative is Gears 5, a game that was enhanced for Xbox Series X at launch. Gears 5 is also available through the Xbox Game Pass program and has no risk of ever leaving the service, so some fans have complained about its inclusion in the Games with Gold lineup. However, Gears 5 reviews were still mostly positive, so those subscribed to Gold but not Game Pass for whatever reason can add it to their collection.
Xbox Live Gold subscribers will have the entire month of February to claim Resident Evil HD Remaster and Gears 5. However, they will only have half of the month to claim one of the other free games. From February 15 to February 15, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can claim Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb, a prequel to the movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. An original Xbox game originally released in 2003, fans can check out Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb while they wait for more information on the upcoming Indiana Jones game in the works at MachineGames.
Later in the month, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will have two additional games to add to their collection as well. From February 16 to March 15, subscribers can claim Dandara. And then from February 16 to February 28, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can get the Xbox 360 game Lost Planet 2.
One of the Xbox free Games with Gold for January 2021 is still available to download as well. Subscribers have until February 15 if they want to claim the Xbox One version of Dead Rising, the zombie survival-horror game from Capcom.
