Every month, Xbox provides its players with 4 games for free. There's still some time to get the March Games with Gold, but as it stands, many are likely looking forward to what's to come in April. These games are usually two Xbox One games and two Xbox 360 games, though sometimes an original Xbox game is offered as well.

This is meant to capture some big games that would do well on the service, not predict what's to come; after all, it's unclear if there's any pattern to this decision making process or if Xbox just throws darts at a board. As such, here's a few games that would make good additions to Xbox's Free Games with Gold in April 2020.

Life is Strange

Originally on Game Pass but dismissed on December 31, 2019, the original Life is Strange is considered by many as one of the best episodic graphic adventures games out there. With the past two months adding this episodic style of game and Life is Strange 2 coming to an end last year as well, including it on the service will give those who didn't have a chance before to play it, those played the sequel first the chance, or any plethora of players. Life is Strange, and the story it tells of Max and Chloe in Arcadia Bay, simply shows the raw emotional power of a solid graphic adventure game and could easily be considered the high bar of the genre.

Dark Souls 3

Dark Souls is a game for those who want truly punishing gameplay. The original was released on Games with Gold all the way back in 2014, 3 years after its release, and so Dark Souls 3 sits in a similar seat. It's been 4 years since it dropped. It seems likely that Dark Souls 2 would be added first, but if both dropped this year, there wouldn't be many complaints (other that at dying in the game itself). Better yet, Games with Gold could include Dark Souls 3: The Fire Fades Edition, the complete edition that comes with both DLCs: Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City. That would be more than enough for Xbox fans to cheer the selection of games available for the month.

Saints Row 2 (Xbox 360)

It seems 2020 may be coming to a slow boil in regards to Saints Row content. There are rumblings of a movie, Saints Rows 4 is coming to the Switch in a matter of days, and a leak has mentioned a remake of the third will be dropping. It's clear why the latter games are more popular, as it moved away from being something comparable to a GTA clone to its own independent and over-the-top franchise. With that being said, there are still many who appreciate the first two games. Considering 3 and 4 have been on the Games with Gold service in the past, adding 2 just seems like common sense and would make many happy, especially as the franchise moves forward.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (Original Xbox)

Splinter Cell is a beloved franchise, one that Ubisoft keeps teasing its fans with. While the future of the franchise remains uncertain, there is a bountiful backlog of games that could and should appear on the franchise. 2002's Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell for the original Xbox, for example, is up there among some of the best stealth games of all time, and as such, would be a real treat to come to the Xbox One via this service.

Xbox Games with Gold for April 2020 will be revealed in the coming days.
