June has had many different events planned throughout the month, though the current state of the world has led to a fair amount of uncertainty and delays. This includes Xbox's event scheduled for June, which has reportedly been pushed back to August, according to VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, who compiled a list of events taking place this month and beyond.

On a phone call with Kinda Funny Games Daily's Greg Miller and Tim Gettys, Grubb expanded on the reason for the delay, stating that the Xbox event, dubbed "Xboxing Day," was moved because Microsoft "didn't want to go before Sony." Additionally, Grubb stated that the event likely contained Xbox Lockhart information. Lockhart is rumored to be a budget version of the Xbox Series X, perhaps without a disc drive.

Earlier today, Sony's PS5 event revealed a new date, now scheduled to take place on June 11. The company has yet to confirm what fans will see during the live stream, though many are hoping for a reveal of the PS5 console design, which has not yet been shown by Sony, despite Microsoft revealing the Xbox Series X all the way back in December last year.

Grubb has been a reliable source of information about scheduled events, though the information should still be taken with a grain of salt. Grubb also warned that fans should set their expectations for a "five out of ten," warning that gamers will likely be disappointed by reveals outside of those that are up their alleys.

It is worth noting that this is just for the June event, and the July event — featuring Xbox exclusives like Halo Infinite — doesn't appear to have been changed. There's still no solid date for that live stream, but July does seem to be a solid window, at least as it stands.

Microsoft's hesitance is understandable. The Xbox Series X price isn't finalized, and it's possible that Microsoft will wait to set a price until after Sony reveals the cost of the PS5, ensuring that the Series X remains competitive. Xbox has a lot hinging on the next console generation, and fans are anxiously awaiting any news about the system. Luckily, fans don't have to wait that much longer for either console.

Xbox has events scheduled throughout 2020.
