The deal brings the Xbox wireless controller's price down significantly, with multiple color options still available to order at the time of writing.

Released in 2020 alongside the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, the current Xbox wireless controller has a few features over the previous iteration that was made available in 2013 with the Xbox One. Some of the newer features include a new Share button between the View and Menu buttons for capturing clips and screenshots, a USB-C connection to connect to PC and consoles, and new textures along the grip of the controller. With connectivity options to suit the needs of any setup, the Xbox wireless controller remains one of the top accessories of the year for Xbox, PC, and mobile gamers alike.

At Walmart, the Xbox wireless controllers received as much as a 33% discount, down to $39.00, for the Carbon Black, Robot White, and Daystrike Camo colors. The other color variants are also available for $44.00, such as Shock Blue and Lunar Shift. In total, all the options listed at Walmart have received a $20 discount, down from the normal retail prices of $59.99 and $64.99 respectively. According to the Walmart website, controllers that are ordered today may arrive as early as December 21, but as late as December 23, depending on the controller ordered and the delivery location. Alternatively, controllers can be ordered and picked up on the same day with free, in-store pickup at the buyer's Walmart store of choice. With thousands sold across the site and in stores, the Xbox wireless controller remains a great gift to go for this holiday shopping season.

However, it is not known how long the discount will last, so shoppers will need to act accordingly to pick up the deal. Considering the fact that Microsoft is constantly looking into further controller refinements, as was the case with a recent patent filing for an LCD screen on a controller, discounts on current and older models of controllers are not that uncommon. Given that the Xbox wireless controller design remains one of the most-liked designs of the current generation of gaming, it remains to be seen what future controller designs will hold for Xbox, PC, and mobile gamers across the board.

The sale of Xbox controllers at Walmart comes ahead of a big year for Xbox. With Phil Spencer stating that Xbox is poised for a big 2023 ahead as far as first-party titles go, there's never been a better time to get another controller or two, no matter the platform of choice.
