With this newfound collaboration between the two video game giants, this mistake made by Microsoft is even more unfortunate.
It's unclear where this mistake was made, but many fans have noticed that the promotions for MLB The Show 21 were using art for a different game altogether. To be fair, Microsoft was kind of close, as the art for the promotions came from R.B.I Baseball 21's box art, another baseball game coming to Xbox Series X this year, but the mistake is still somewhat humorous.
Naturally, Microsoft has already identified and fixed the mistake, so players shouldn't expect to see this advertising blunder anymore. That said, no matter how briefly a mistake is live, fans always manage to capture images and immortalize it online, so now images of R.B.I. Baseball's box art with the logo of MLB The Show 21 are floating around the internet.
As the Reddit post above shows, this is very clearly the wrong box art. In the first image, players see an advertisement for MLB The Show 21, with a caption claiming that it is "Baseball at its best," but the second image reveals the issue. It's likely that this was the result of a minor mistake, and since it has already been fixed there probably aren't going to be any consequences.
