A major part of any console's success is tied to how well the product connects with audiences. Xbox's current slogan, for example, is "Power Your Dreams," which builds on its marketing pitch that the Xbox Series X is the most powerful console in the world. Merchandising is also a big part of connecting to gamers, like with the Xbox One's customizable controllers. Now Xbox might be branching into an area of merchandising a little more hip than usual, with rumors hinting at a sneaker partnership with Adidas.

Reports of the Xbox and Adidas partnership have been shared by Complex, which cited anonymous sources familiar with the situation for its story. Xbox and Adidas will be working together on not just a single pair of sneakers, but a full series of Xbox-branded shoes. While the partnership hasn't been announced, Complex says that the first pair of Xbox-branded Adidas will be released as of June, with two more styles arriving in October, and another in November respectively. More shoes will follow in 2022.

The first pair of sneakers is a version of Adidas' new Forum Tech Boost style. The October duo will both be a take on Adidas' popular Forum Mid basketball sneakers. The November pair will then be a Forum Tech style of sneakers. The one consistent theme across all shoes will be a mixture of black and Xbox green, along with the Xbox logo on each shoe's sides.

Two images were also included in the leak. The first is a genuine photograph of the Forum Tech Boost style of Xbox shoe. It features Adidas' branded thick Boost cushioning in the sole as well as a style of holey mesh layering black on green for the inner-shoe fabric that looks akin to the Xbox Series X console's top. The second image is a piece of concept art. It's similar to the photograph but has green and black polka dots along its side and front rather than just flat black.

While the success of an Xbox line of branded Adidas sneakers may be unpredictable, it does seem like a smart idea on paper. Studies have shown that the Xbox brand is more popular than PlayStation in the USA, and sneaker culture is more popular than ever. There are certain to be a lot of Xbox gamers who'd love to rep their console loyalty in style.

With the Xbox and Adidas partnership coming to fruition in June, it wouldn't be a surprise to see an official announcement relatively soon. Considering June will be full of major announcements and events, including E3 2021, that may be a great opportunity to reveal the Xbox x Adidas partnership.
