As Nintendo's mascot series Super Mario rounds its 35th anniversary, the plumber and his friends are being put onto all kinds of merchandise. There is a LEGO Super Mario set with eight expansions, Mario-themed versions of Jenga and Monopoly, and Thursday gaming chair developer X Rocker announced a Super Mario line being released in the UK and EU starting August 1, 2020.

Created in collaboration with Nintendo of Europe, there are two Super Mario-themed collections being released through retailers such as Argos and Smyths Toys, according to a X Rocker news release. The first is based on the Video Rocker line aimed toward younger children that will feature different characters including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and Bowser; while the second collection will begin as three "unique" designs for X Rocker's 2.1 Stereo Audio Gaming Chair.

In the news release, X Rocker Marketing Director Gary Shaw said, "This year, more so than any, we all need reasons to smile and no-one does this better than Mario and his friends." The primary designs of these chairs are based on assets from Super Mario 3D World, believed to be releasing on Switch alongside other classic titles for Mario's 35th anniversary, and Shaw said "we have even more to come."

Nintendo is not the only video game company to jump on the gaming chair craze with Super Mario. Last month, CD Projekt Red announced a partnership with Secretlab to create Cyberpunk 2077 gaming chairs, with wider availabilities expected around the game's launch in November.
