During San Diego Comic-Con, there were all kinds of announcements about the future of the MCU. One announcement that was noticeably absent was when fans can expect to see the X-Men reboot, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige did shed at least a bit of light on what his plans entail in that regard.

There have been plenty of guesses about just when the X-Men are going to join the MCU. While they haven't really made a significant appearance yet, there was at least an allusion to the X-Men in the Ms. Marvel finale. There was also the introduction of Professor X in the form of Patrick Stewart in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, that only whets the appetite of those who are longing for an X-Men film to officially be part of the MCU.

After Marvel Studios head Feige was finished with his Hall H presentation at Comic-Con 2022, ComicBook did manage to catch up with the exec. They talked to him a bit about when he planned to bring the mutant heroes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the publication joked that Feige might even wait until Phase 10 to introduce the characters, he replied that it was "longer than I wanna wait." Beyond that, he was still tight-lipped on just how long he was willing to wait.

During the Hall H presentation, Feige laid out that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would officially end Phase 4 of Marvel Studios' cinematic plans. He also explained in great detail the entirety of the movies that would be arriving as part of Phase 5. Finally, Marvel Studios revealed at least a few of the films in Phase 6 but made it clear the whole schedule would not been divulged yet.

With Phase 6 running into 2025, it appears it's still going to be several years before there is a full-fledged X-Men reboot on the big screen, though that doesn't mean some of the characters can't appear in movies already greenlit. One such member of the team could be Earth Prime's Professor X if rumors about Giancarlo Esposito are to be believed.

The fact that Feige still isn't really spilling the beans about exactly when the X-Men will get their MCU reboot is likely frustrating to many. However, by talking about how long he doesn't want to wait at Comic-Con, and with Phase 5 laid out and Phase 6 starting to get revealed, a timeframe can at least be extrapolated.

The X-Men films are available on Disney Plus.
