Ever since Disney acquired Twentieth Century Fox back in 2019, fans have been wondering what Marvel Studios has planned for the X-Men. Now that the company owns all of the rights to the original characters from the Fox films, there's always the chance that they could bring some of the franchise's beloved mutants back to the big screen.

The first indication of a future crossover between the X-Men and the MCU was given in Disney Plus' WandaVision when Evan Peters' Quicksilver made a cameo during the show's fifth episode. It was a mindblowing moment for Marvel fans everywhere, as it marked the first time a character from the Fox films was ever introduced to the MCU. Since then, there have been endless rumors regarding which other mutants could end up appearing in future MCU titles; however, updates and confirmations on such have been rather scarce as of late.

The good news is that some of the original actors from the Fox films have voiced that they would love to be involved in the MCU if given the chance. Famke Janssen, the actress who portrayed Jean Grey in the original X-Men film trilogy, is particularly interested in making a return. In a recent interview with ET Canada, Janssen said that she would want to reprise her role as the troubled telepath if there ever was an opportunity for her to do so.

She said that her X-Men characters - that is, Jean Grey and the Phoenix - have always been very good to her and that she "really enjoyed working with the whole cast." She also gave a shout-out to Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner, who played a younger Jean Grey in 2019's X-Men: Dark PhoenixGiven that Marvel also has Turner's character at their disposal, Janssen said she doesn't think Marvel will ever need her to reprise her version of the character, but she added that Marvel can always "call [her] if they want to."

As for the fate of the other Fox mutants, it's hard to say for certain whether they'll still be around for future phases of the MCU. Recent reports have claimed that Hugh Jackman will not be reprising his role as Wolverine anytime soon and that Jennifer Lawrence is not interested in returning as Mystique, so we may have to cross those two off of the list.

That said, a rumored X-Men reboot called The Mutants is also apparently in the works, so who knows what could end up happening in the future. As with most of their projects, Marvel Studios is making audiences wait until they're ready to announce anything.

The X-Men collection is now streaming on Disney Plus.
