Gears of War 5 recently got quite the surprising addition to its multiplayer roster. Recently, Gears 5 revealed it was adding WWE superstars the New Day as DLC characters.

The trio, consisting of wrestlers Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E, appear in custom COG armor based off the team’s iconic wrestling costumes. Now, the New Day are bringing their Gears of War 5 outfits to life as the trio entered the wrestling ring live wearing replicas of their in-game COG armor.

Though Gears of War 5 has been out for some time now, the game is still getting updates a year after release. The recent Hollow Storm update for Gears 5 was one of the game’s biggest updates yet, adding five brand new maps to the game, among other things. Though shortly after the Hollow Storm update went live for Gears 5 players, The Coalition and Xbox revealed another new bit of content coming to the game in the form of some brand new multiplayer characters, being in-game versions of WWE’s stable the New Day. Today, the New Day celebrated their inclusion in Gears 5 by walking out to the ring wearing their custom COG armor.

The New Day are competing in WWE’s Survivor Series, taking on The Street Profits. However, before the match could begin, the New Day flaunted their Gears 5 COG armor in brilliant fashion. Even the crew’s props, such as Xavier Woods’ trombone, were decked out in full Gears 5 fashion. Fans of the Gears of War series likely noticed that Woods’ trombone was not only styled after the crew’s COG armor, but also resembled the iconic Lancer weapon complete with a chainsaw attachment.

The New Day crew were clearly having fun arriving on stage fully decked out in their custom armor. Unfortunately, they weren’t allowed to keep the armor on for the following match against the Street Profits. Still, the crew's arrival to the stage in full COG armor really cements the fact that they’re a fun choice for Gears 5 DLC multiplayer characters. In contrast to many of Gears 5’s stern and serious roster, the New Day brings some fun energy to the game with their vibrantly colored armor.

Interestingly, the New Day aren’t the only wrestling-themed addition that Gears 5 saw recently. At the end of October, an update allowed players to turn Marcus Fenix into Dave Bautista. Today, Bautista is probably most well-known for playing Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Bautista was a professional wrestler all the way back in 1999. It’s an interesting update to be sure, but one that old-school wrestling fans will probably get a kick out of. Now, newer wrestling fans can enjoy seeing the New Day in Gears 5’s multiplayer roster right now.

Gears 5 is out now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
