Hideo Kojima has legions of diehard fans among gamers and frequently draws attention from outside the gaming world for his convoluted narratives and deeply cinematic approach to game design. That a WWE superstar is interested in working with the legendary director isn't too much of a stretch, considering Kojima's wide appeal.

Death Stranding, Kojima's latest offering, has been out for a few months now and proved to be a little polarizing with critics; a fact that Kojima has made attempts to understand. The game has the trademark narrative quirk present in all Kojima-helmed projects, which is often why fans are drawn to his games. One of those fans is WWE Superstar Samoa Joe.

Samoa Joe, real name Nuufolau Seanoa, in an interview with Sports Bible, revealed that he would be interested in working with Kojima "on any project he has." While working on another video game project, Joe spoke with a voice director who worked on Death Stranding with Kojima and "learning how his mind works" whetted Joe's appetite to possibly work with the famed auteur. Samoa Joe isn't the only one who would like to work with Kojima, as Norman Reedus— the star of Death Stranding— has been in talks with the director to collaborate on future projects.

As WWE finds itself in a less-than-ideal situation concerning live shows due to the COVID-19 coronavirus, Samoa Joe looking at other projects is not a bad use of his time. The wrestler has spent time in the recording booth for voice work in DOTA 2 and Game of Thrones: A Telltale Series, so voicing a character in a future Kojima project could be in his future.

There is certainly some overlap between WWE and gaming fandom, as evidenced by the "feud" ongoing between The Undertaker and Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect. Adding Samoa Joe to the cast list for an upcoming Kojima project would tap into two passionate fanbases.

As rumors begin to circulate about what Kojima may be working on next, his fans across the entertainment world are excited to throw their hat in the ring with the legendary director.
