Following the announcement last year, G4's return to screens has been an exciting prospect for video game fans, boasting several major names in prominent hosting positions. One of these presenters is none other than professional wrestler Austin Creed (or as he's known in the ring, Xavier Woods), and now, it seems the iconic star of the New Day will be hosting his own show on the digital network in collaboration with WWE.
Although the show doesn't have a name just yet, it will allegedly see content creators duke it out across a series of popular video games, with a press release over on WWE's website claiming competitors will "settle scores... with scores." The show will air on the G4 Network this Fall with WWE in an executive producer role.
During the press release, Woods claims that he'll not only act as a presenter for the show but also have a "pivotal role" in the competition itself. The concept sounds similar to the wrestler's content on his popular YouTube channel, UpUpDownDown, where he invites fellow WWE talent to battle it out across a series of games. His shows have seen stars like Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Kofi Kingston, Big E, AJ Styles, Asuka, Drew McIntyre, and Adam Cole all show up and face off in the realm of video games. It'll be interesting to see whether they crop up on Woods' new show, especially considering WWE is officially a collaborator.
The press release goes on to claim that the show will combine what makes G4 and WWE such beloved brands, referencing the latter's flashy, sports-entertainment style and the former's personable gaming focus. The pair will attempt to make something wholly different for G4's programming with a charismatic, fan-favorite star at the forefront. It seems the idea is still a ways off, although there will allegedly be another G4-related announcement during the "UUDD WrestleMania Gaming Event" taking place this Saturday. The gaming stream will take place at 11AM ET (8AM PT) on the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel, although specific details about the reveal haven't been announced.
The stream will be in accordance with WrestleMania, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The show of shows already has an absolutely stacked card filled with some of WWE's biggest current feuds, including Edge taking on Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat, Drew McIntyre looking to reclaim his WWE championship from Bobby Lashley, and Sasha Banks going head to head with Royal Rumble winner Bianca Belair. Other matches will see "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt battle Randy Orton and Asuka defend her WWE Raw Women's Championship against Rhea Ripley.
