WWE 2K23 continued to improve the series following the success of WWE 2K22 by polishing various game modes, including Universe Mode and Showcase Mode. The latter of these game modes saw big changes as players no longer controlled the focus superstar, John Cena, but rather his opponents that made history by defeating him. So, with WWE 2K24 undoubtedly attempting to emulate the success of the previous two games, the upcoming Showcase Mode should feature an entire faction, giving players a chance to play with various superstars as they witness the formation, rise, and dissolution of a historic team.

Factions are an important part of the WWE, allowing new superstars to rise to new heights, like Randy Orton and Batista, and giving veterans more time in the spotlight. When done right, a faction can not only dominate a single show in the WWE, but they can take over the entire company, winning multiple championships and making it extremely difficult to defeat any member. With so many factions for WWE 2K24 to pick from, Visual Concepts would be spoiled for choice.

Faction Seems Like The Next Logical Step for WWE 2K24

WWE 2K23’s Showcase Mode worked out one of the most frustrating points of the game mode: the repetitive feel as the player completed more and more matches. Using the same superstar over multiple fights means using the same moves constantly and ultimately winning fights the same way each time. To avoid this, WWE 2K23 let players step into the shoes of John Cena’s toughest opponents, giving them a chance to not only experience the stellar career of John Cena but also play through the matches as different superstars.

To continue this trend of giving fans more variety in Showcase Mode, WWE 2K24 could feature a dominant faction like DX or Evolution. This would not only allow players to witness the story of the faction from each superstar’s perspective, but it would also provide enough variety for players to better enjoy each fight in the game mode. With various superstars to follow, a faction in Showcase Mode could also increase the length of the game mode by adding in more fights and promos for the player to complete.

Factions That Could Feature in WWE 2K24 Showcase

WWE has had its fair share of legendary factions that have stirred things up throughout its history, whether they were faces of the company or heels hellbent on causing chaos. The likes of Evolution, one of the most successful WWE factions of all time, or D-Generation X would be the most sensible picks for a historic route. Each group had multiple superstars who built great careers after the dissolution of the faction. In Evolution, for example, being able to not only control Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista but also witness how the younger superstars evolved within the faction would be interesting for many players.

On the other hand, quite a few newer factions have taken WWE by storm and gave each member a significant boost in their career. One faction that truly encapsulates this is The Shield, with both Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns going to attain the biggest prize in the business, the WWE title, on numerous occasions. WWE 2K24 could even explore various themes by featuring the likes of the Bloodline or The New Day in Showcase Mode, giving fans a look into the mind of some of the most feared and loved current superstars on the roster.

WWE 2K23 showed that Visual Concepts can not only create a good wrestling game, but also improve upon its previous games by listening to its fans. With WWE 2K24 likely releasing next year, Visual Concepts should seriously consider making a faction the main focus for the Showcase Mode. WWE 2K23’s Showcase Mode was a step in the right direction, adding a lot of variety to its fights, and now WWE 2K24 has the chance to continue the momentum and give fans more variety, action, and enjoyment as they explore the careers of some of the greatest WWE superstars.

WWE 2K24 is currently in development.
