Even with the introduction of the WarGames match in WWE 2K23, Hell in a Cell is still one of the most fun matches in the game. Whether single-player or multiplayer, fans can recreate the carnage and violence of classic matches like The Undertaker Vs. Mankind/Cactus Jack/Mick Foley.
Players can use the cage environment to devastating finishers and memorable moments in WWE 2K23 and walk away as the winner from the Hell in a Cell match. Players have more freedom to move and fight when compared to a standard Steel Cage match, and it lacks the minigames required to win.
Hell In A Cell Rules
As a brutal cage match, the WWE wrestlers don't have to concern themselves with rules or stipulations to win. The stipulations to win a Hell in a Cell match are as follows:
- No Disqualifications. So weapons can be used, and there are no count outs.
- Win by pinfall or submission in the ring or the cage roof.
- Up to 6 entrants can enter the match.
Players can change the match settings before the match begins in one-off wrestling matches and customize the settings to their liking.
Fighting Ringside & Breaking The Cell Wall
There are two methods players can use to break the cell wall. Fights must take place at ringside. The ringside area is narrowed because of the cell wall. So the WWE wrestler's abilities are limited within the confined space. To slam an opponent through the cage wall, use the following steps:
- To grab a weapon from the ring apron, leave the ring and press the L1/LB button to select one.
- Unfortunately, wrestlers can only use weapons inside the ring and can't take them outside the cell.
- With the fight at ringside, players can Irish Whip opponents into the wall by pressing Circle/B and the L-stick into the corners of the Hell in a Cell to damage the wall. After several slams, the cell wall will break, and the opponent will fall to the outside of the cage.
- Players can perform a finisher on an opponent leaning against the cage wall. Ensure that the player's wrestler has a finisher stored. Then Irish Whip the opponent onto the cell wall by pressing Circle/B and the L-stick into the corner.
- With the opponent leaning against the cage, press R2/RT and X/A to land the finisher.
- To follow opponents outside the cage, press the R1/RB button to leave the cell.
Fighting On Top Of The Hell In A Cell
After the cell wall is broken, players can climb the fence to fight on top of the cage and perform several high-risk moves and finishers.
- To climb the cell wall, press the R1/RB button.
- The WWE Superstar will stop halfway on the wall.
- Players can fight with an opponent here by pressing the Square/X and X/A buttons, or they can jump down with the Circle/B button.
- To continue climbing, press the R1/RB button again - don't press the L-stick.
Throwing An Opponent From Cell
At the top of the cell, players can throw their opponents from the edge. Wrestlers like the Undertaker will execute a chokeslam or an Attitude Adjustment from John Cena.
- To execute the move, get the opponent as close to the edge of the cell roof as possible and press the X/A button. Thankfully, wrestlers don't need to have a finisher stored.
- The move can also be executed through the announcer's table. Ensure the wrestlers are fighting near the announcer's table, and press the X/A button.
Slamming An Opponent Through The Cell Roof
The WWE Superstars can slam each other through the cell roof and onto the canvas. Unsurprisingly, this causes massive damage to the opponents, and players stand a good chance of winning the WWE match. Four damageable squares on the cell roof sit directly above the ring. These will dent after a slam and eventually break.
- The most accurate way to slam opponents through the cell roof is to grab them with the Circle/B button and R1 to carry them to the squares.
- Press the L-stick to change the position and then X/A to slam the opponent down.
- Players can also perform a finisher like John Cena's Attitude Adjustment, Brock Lesnar's F5 through the cage, and more by pressing R2/RT and X/A.
- To follow the wrestler down into the cell, press the R1/RB button.
