Even though the WWE games could always do with more Legends from different eras, WWE 2K22 does have a good selection, so fans can create or recreate their dream matches in the game. Whether it's a dream bout pitting Bret Hart against AJ Styles or recreating The Ultimate Warrior versus Hulk Hogan from WrestleMania 6, WWE 2K22 has its fans covered.
Past and present, WWE 2K22 features a number of Legends for players to select. Some of these past superstars have ratings that don't quite match the success of these Legends' careers like Shawn Michaels and Macho Man Randy Savage sitting at 88. However, there are superstars in the game's roster that are more fitting.
8 Edge - 91
Even though Edge is currently active on the roster after making his surprise comeback in the 2020 Royal Rumble the 48-year-old is a Legend. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame after injuring his neck in 2011.
Edge has come back fitter and stronger than ever and has already put on some excellent matches with Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, and Roman Reigns. Edge is expected to have something of a dream match with AJ Styles at WrestleMania 38.
7 Bret Hart - 91
Still considered by many to be the greatest performer of all time, Bret "The Hitman" Hart is a Legend that no WWE game can do without. The "Excellence of Execution" has never looked better in video game form and his moves have been captured beautifully.
His legendary matches against the likes of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Diesel, and The Undertaker have gone down as some of the best in the WWE. Fans can now recreate these matches in WWE 2K22.
6 Triple H - 91
During the Attitude Era, there were three top guys in the WWE. They were "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, and Triple H. Triple H was often positioned as the top heel/face in the company and would go on to have classic rivalries with The Rock, Austin, Batista, and Shawn Michaels.
More recently, Triple H has been more active behind the scenes as the creator and executive producer of the developmental brand known as NXT. Triple H will always be remembered as one of the biggest main event stars in WWE history.
5 Stone Cold Steve Austin - 92
Another wrestler considered by many to be the greatest is "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. He was instrumental in WWE winning the Monday Night Wars against WCW and was the face of the company in one form or another from 1996 to 2003.
Austin's memorable feuds with Vince McMahon, The Undertaker, Shawn Michael, Bret Hart, and The Rock can all be recreated in WWE 2K22. Just like Triple H and Bret Hart, Austin should be a mainstay in all WWE video games.
4 John Cena - 92
After The Rock moved on to Hollywood movies and Austin retired due to the number of serious injuries he sustained, John Cena would rise to superstardom in the WWE as its main franchise player during the "Ruthless Aggression" and the early days of the PG era.
At the height of his career, Cena was a polarizing figure. On one hand, he appealed to younger fans like a modern-day Hulk Hogan. On the other, older fans were longing for a return to the Attitude Era. The 16-time WWE Champion is still highly regarded as one of the greatest and his matches against Batista, Brock Lesnar, and The Rock are among the greatest in the company.
3 Hollywood Hulk Hogan (NWO-4-Life Edition) - 92
As one of the biggest stars of the 1980s and the 1990s Hulk Hogan needs no introduction. After his good-guy persona started to get stale in WCW, Hogan needed to reinvent himself and did so with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall to form the NWO.
This new faction helped WCW beat the WWE in ratings for weeks forcing Vince McMahon to answer with an edgier product that included the likes of DX, Steve Austin, The Rock, and more. Hollywood Hogan is the villainous leader of the NWO and is rated higher than the red and yellow version that's included with the game.
2 The Rock - 93
As one of Hollywood's biggest leading men, it's easy to forget just how good and entertaining The Rock's matches were in the WWE. His incredible matches with Steve Austin, Triple H, and Brock Lesnar still stand the test of time.
In WWE 2K22, The Rock is an awesome character to select as he has a good combination of speed and high-impact moves. Just like his real-life counterpart, his recovery attributes allow him to mount quick comebacks against his opponents.
1 The Undertaker (Ministry Of Darkness DLC) - 93
The Undertaker has had one of the greatest careers in the WWE. He has worked through and helped define the 90s, 2000s, and the 2010s. He has adapted his character and persona to fit the era and has found himself in the main event at major pay-per-views countless times.
Taker's combination of size, speed, strength, and agility translates perfectly to the game. His Ministry of Darkness persona is available as part of WWE 2K22's DLC and this version of the character is worth the price alone. At 330lbs, Ministry Taker was the biggest and most intimidating the man has ever looked.
WWE 2K22 is available now for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
