WWE games were a little late to the create-a-wrestler party when compared with some of their peers, but they now lead the way when it comes to customization. The series' latest installment, WWE 2K22, features the most comprehensive CAW mode to date, allowing players to add just about anyone they can think of into the game.

Though the majority of creations are based on current and former wrestlers, there are quite a few of them that were inspired by characters from other video game series. Due to the realistic nature of WWE 2K22, some of these custom Superstars are a little jarring at first, though, for fans of their respective franchises, this shouldn't be a deal-breaker.

Scorpion

VENUM's fantastic model of Scorpion from Mortal Kombat is an excellent example of the depth of WWE 2K22's create-a-wrestler tools. The high levels of detail are incredibly impressive and really help to bring the character to life. Sadly, players won't be able to use Scorpion's iconic "Get Over Here" attack, but Mortal Kombat fans should still be more than satisfied with the end result.

Sub Zero

For those looking for something a little cooler, YOUKNOWLYNCHII's attempt at recreating Sub Zero should hit the spot. Like Scorpion, the attention to detail really is quite astounding and just goes to show what's possible if players are willing to put in the time and effort required to really make their creations shine.

Springtrap

Though Mortal Kombat has its fair share of blood and gore, it's never really presented in a way that comes across as scary. The same cannot be said, however, for the Five Nights at Freddy's series, which is renowned for its use of jump-scares and shocking images. This solid recreation of Springtrap from the series' third installment comes courtesy of creator SomeCroppyEdits and is one of several FNAF characters available in WWE 2K22.

Matt

Following his appearance in the hugely successful Wii Sports, CPU controlled-character Matt became something of a meme. Now, thanks to the efforts of creator WITHERWINGYT, the all-conquering sports star can strut his stuff in the WWE 2K22 ring and show that all those years of virtual boxing weren't all for nothing.

Donkey Kong

Why settle for superstars who are merely described like animals when one can simply download a real-life jungle brawler like Donkey Kong instead? Granted, the somewhat realistic body doesn't mesh all that well with the character's cartoony face, but YouTuberTheGameMLL's creation is still worth a look, particularly for fans of the classic Nintendo franchise.

Mario

Perhaps a little more Mari-oh-no than Mario, there's an awful lot to unpack when it comes to this interesting recreation from EducatedLoverTube. It's very easy to identify the portly plumber though, suggesting that the creator at least got a few things right. The Dr. Mario alt attire is hilarious too, albeit a little scary.

Sonic

Not to be outdone by his long-time rival in the nightmare fuel department, Sonic's lack of ears and chiseled physique really is quite disconcerting here. For fans of the headstrong hedgehog though, AlfieRodds' creation will likely be a welcome one, if only for the novelty of seeing Sonic strut his stuff inside the WWE 2K22 ring.

Dr. Robotnik

There aren't too many games that feature the blue blur and not his arch-nemesis, Eggman, and WWE 2K22 isn't one of them. Thankfully, SpykeFreaky's attempt at recreating Robotnik isn't quite as terrifying as AlfieRodds' Sonic, instead falling somewhere right in between the borders of realism and straight-up make-believe.

Arthur Morgan

As well as being responsible for some of the best custom superstars based on superheroes and a pretty decent attempt at Eminem, MARCOANDTARMA also threw together this fantastic version of Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2. Complete with the character's iconic belt and suspenders, it really does look the part and is a must-download for any Red Dead fan.

Big Smoke

Big Smoke is probably one of the most underrated villains in video game history. The way that he does CJ and Sweet dirty in GTA: San Andreas is enough to evoke genuine feelings of anger. For those who are still to come to terms with his betrayal, beating the snot out of him in WWE 2K22 might just help, and they can now do just that thanks to this fantastic creation from DirectConchairtoLTD.
