WWE 2K20 was finally confirmed just this past week, with 2K Sports releasing a pair of screenshots showcasing Brock Lesnar and Bayley. A proper reveal of WWE 2K20 is coming on Monday, August 5, where more wrestlers are expected to be confirmed for the game's roster. And if past games are any indication, it's quite likely that the WWE 2K20 roster will feature more than a few overpowered wrestlers in its lineup.
In WWE 2K20, "overpowered" can mean a couple of different things. One way a superstar can be overpowered is by getting a particularly high overall rating despite not really being an active wrestler or delivering poor performances in recent years. On the other hand, a wrestler could deserve to have a high overall rating, but as we've seen in past WWE 2K titles, they could potentially give players who select them an unfair advantage in the ring. We considered both possibilities when selecting 10 wrestlers who will likely be overpowered in WWE 2K20.
Here are 10 wrestlers we think will be overpowered in the upcoming WWE 2K20.
10 The Undertaker
The Undertaker has been a mainstay in the WWE since the 90s, but the Phenom has certainly seen better days. His recent match against Goldberg was horrendous, and while the blame for that likely rests more on Goldberg's shoulders than The Undertaker's, there's no denying that the Phenom is past his prime. However, that hasn't stopped WWE from still using The Undertaker whenever possible, and he's still propped up as a near-unbeatable force in the video games. Considering how little The Undertaker has actually wrestled in recent years and how his performances have been relatively sluggish compared to his past matches (with exception to his match at Extreme Rules that was admittedly quite good), we expect The Undertaker's overall rating to be a bit higher than perhaps it should be.
Speaking of Goldberg, the once-dominant WCW star has had his stock fall quite a bit in recent times as well. His feud with Brock Lesnar was fun for what it was, but Goldberg's match with The Undertaker has left a bad taste in peoples' mouths. Despite this, the dirtsheets report that WWE is bringing Goldberg back for its upcoming SummerSlam event, where he is expected to wrestle Dolph Ziggler (despite a match already being announced between Ziggler and The Miz). WWE 2K19 gave Goldberg an impressive 90 overall rating, and we expect something similar for his WWE 2K20 rating, whether he actually deserves it or not.
Sting's run in WWE was short and not all that sweet. He lost to Triple H at WrestleMania, and then he lost to Seth Rollins in a match where he was seriously injured by a bucklebomb that effectively ended his in-ring career. Since Sting remains signed to the WWE under a Legends contract, it's likely that he will be featured in WWE 2K20, and it's likely that his overall rating will be somewhere in the high 80s or low 90s.
7 The Rock
Not even bothering to make an appearance during the big Raw Reunion episode, it seems as though The Rock may finally be done with wrestling for good so that he can focus entirely on his acting career. But while the Brahma Bull may not be appearing on WWE TV again anytime soon, that doesn't mean he can't be featured in the video games. WWE 2K20 will more likely than not feature The Rock as a playable character with an overall rating of at least 90, despite the fact that he hasn't wrestled in years.
6 Triple H
Triple H has remained a constant fixture in the WWE, and despite the fact that he only wrestles sporadically at this point, his overall rating has remained consistently high. The WWE 2K19 superstar ratings saw Triple H actually dip below a 90 overall to 89, but even then that seems a tad high for someone who is mostly portrayed as a businessman on TV nowadays. With Triple H picking up a decisive victory over Batista at WrestleMania 35, it's quite possible that his overall rating will jump back up again, so it will be interesting to see what it ends up being once the superstar ratings are released.
5 Becky Lynch
Becky Lynch's rise to the top of the Women's Division is one of the most organic pushes that the WWE has delivered in years. Lynch, seen as underdog and misused performer for some time, has scratched and clawed her way to the top of her division, being the only person on the current WWE roster to have pinned Ronda Rousey. Defeating Rousey (and by extension, Charlotte Flair) in the WrestleMania 35 main event saw Lynch become both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Champion simultaneously, which is something that the developers at Yuke's and 2K Sports will be unable to ignore when assigning her an overall rating. Lynch will deserve her high overall rating and her rumored spot on the WWE 2K20 cover art, but we can see these accolades translating into her being an unfair match for her opponents in-game.
4 Charlotte Flair
Since her main roster debut, Charlotte Flair has been a prominent part of WWE's Women's Division. The multi-time Women's Champion is well on the way to breaking her legendary father's title record, and she has been a part of a number of major milestones for women's wrestling in WWE. At WrestleMania 35, Charlotte wrestled in the main event against Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey, and this distinction combined with how dominantly she's booked on TV makes it likely that she will have one of the highest overall ratings on the roster. Like with Becky Lynch, Charlotte may be more deserving of the high overall rating she's likely to receive than others on this list, but it may also mean it's not viable to pick other women's wrestlers outside the few on the top.
3 Ronda Rousey
Since Ronda Rousey has been largely absent from WWE television since she wrestled in the main event at WrestleMania 35, some could be forgiven for forgetting she's even on the roster. With only a single pinfall loss under her belt, Rousey could very well have an overall rating of over 90 in WWE 2K20, which wasn't true for any of the women on the WWE 2K19 roster. Rousey's absolute in-ring dominance and the way she's portrayed is reminiscent of another likely overpowered superstar, Brock Lesnar, and those who pick up WWE 2K20 can expect her to be an absolutely dominant force in the new game.
2 Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns may not currently be a part of the world title conversation in WWE, but that doesn't mean the company has given up on his push. Even when while other superstars hold the world title, Reigns is still treated like the face of the company. Reigns has consistently been one of the top-rated performers in terms of overall rating in past WWE video games, and we see no reason for that to change in WWE 2K20.
1 Brock Lesnar
Welp. Here comes the pain. Brock Lesnar has been overpowered in many WWE video games in the past, with him being notoriously overpowered in games like WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain. In modern day WWE, Lesnar is portrayed as the most powerful superstar on the roster, having squashed John Cena, regularly brutalizing opponents that are bigger than him like Braun Strowman, and of course, having been the one to end The Undertaker's legendary undefeated streak at WrestleMania. With Lesnar doubling down on the WWE instead of making a full-time return to the UFC like some expected, it's quite likely that he will remain a major part of WWE's product moving forward, both in the ring and in the video games. Lesnar is guaranteed to have a high overall rating (and deservedly so, considering how his character is portrayed on TV), but the question is whether or not his utter dominance will translate into a character that's simply unfair to play as, which has been the case in past wrestling games.
WWE 2K20 will launch later this year for unspecified platforms.
