As the one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood right now, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been incredibly busy with everything from blockbuster films to Apple commercials. Now it looks as if the wrestling legend will be returning to help out the WWE in a different way through his brand new role as Executive Music Producer for the upcoming video game WWE 2K18.

According to a recent blog post on the WWE 2K website, Johnson has selected 11 of his favorite tunes for inclusion in the final game. There's a nice range featured in the final song list, ranging from artists like Disturbed to Kanye West. All in all, there's a little bit of something for everyone in the selection of music which should appease fans of all preferences.

Gamers and WWE aficionados alike can expect to see the following songs in WWE 2K18, courtesy of The Rock:

  • Blues Brothers – “Soul Man”;
  • Boston – “Smokin’”;
  • Bruno Mars – “Runaway Baby”;
  • Disturbed – “Down With The Sickness”;
  • Eazy-E – “Boyz-N-The-Hood”;
  • George Thorogood & The Destroyers – “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer”;
  • Joe Walsh – “Rocky Mountain Way”;
  • Kanye West – “Black Skinhead”;
  • Kid Rock – “You Never Met a White Boy Quite Like Me”;
  • ¡MAYDAY! (feat. Tech N9ne) – “Last One Standing”;
  • Tech N9ne (feat. Krizz Kaliko, Serj Tankian) – “Straight Out The Gate”.

“Music is one of my soul’s anchors,” said Johnson. “All genres. I’m excited to celebrate my WWE roots by partnering with the 2K and Apple Music teams and share some of my favorite hardcore training songs with fans all over the world.”

The playlist will be available through Apple Music, which is appropriate given that it's the music streaming service owned by the company that The Rock is currently in a promotional partnership with. Admittedly, releasing the soundtrack now for owners of the subscription service allows gaming hopefuls to familiarize themselves with the beats that await them in WWE 2K18, which is a far cry from a bad thing for those that have always enjoyed singing along to the songs of WWE video games.

It's looking as if 2K Sports is putting its all into making this new game the best installment of the series yet, with WWE 2K18 even gaining a release on Switch following a five-year absence from Nintendo consoles. Although that version is currently without a release date, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners can anticipate blaring the above list of tunes while laying the smackdown on a plethora of WWE Superstars and Legends later this October.

WWE 2K18 arrives for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 17, 2017, and will arrive for Nintendo Switch in Fall 2017.
