Sports games are known for providing gamers with a mildly different experience with a new installment every year, but that doesn’t put a dent in fans’ plans to purchase and engage in the annual series with every new iteration. One such game franchise is one of 2K Sports’ latest acquisitions, the WWE license, and the publisher has finally spilled details on when it’s latest wrestling title, WWE 2K15, will be hitting store shelves.
Those that enjoy watching the high-impact action of WWE play out every week now have dates to mark on their calendars, because WWE 2K15 will be slamming onto store shelves on October 28, 2014 in North America. 2K Games will then unleash a can full of smackdown Internationally come October 31, 2014. This falls in line with the traditional release pattern for every other World Wrestling Entertainment game that’s come before it, but it’s the lineup of consoles that it’s coming to that’ll have fans excited.
Confirmed via the WWE Games official Twitter account, it’s now official that WWE 2K15 will be arriving on traditional platforms such as the Xbox 360 and PS3, but for the first time in franchise history it’ll also be coming to next-gen consoles such as Xbox One and PS4. This is huge news for fans looking to experience the first WWE-themed foray into a new generation of video game hardware, and the end result should be the best looking installment the series has seen to-date.
Oddly enough, 2K Sports didn’t follow up its Twitter reveal with a trailer or screenshots in any form whatsoever, nor did it announce a Wii U version of the game — although given the poor sales of Nintendo’s console it’s not hard to fathom a guess as to why. Perhaps parent company Take-Two Interactive is holding out until E3 2014 to introduce WWE 2K15 to the world in a grandiose fashion, and if that’s the case then fans won’t be waiting much longer to see some of their favorite Superstars and Legends throw down.
Are you excited to see more on WWE 2K15? Will you be picking up the game later this October?
WWE 2K15 will hit store shelves in North America on October 28, 2014, with an International release currently scheduled for October 31, 2014.
