Those who have seen trailers for Disney's upcoming film Wreck-It Ralph have probably realized why it'll appeal to gamers. The story follows a misunderstood video game antagonist who gets tired of being the bad guy and sets off to change his life. Throughout his adventure, Ralph encounters real video game heroes and villains from some of the most recognizable franchises currently around today. That's why it's fitting that this faux gaming mascot will be appearing in a real video game as a guest star in Sega's Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

Sega revealed that Ralph will be joining other previously announced racers in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed — like Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Monkey Ball's AiAi, and (for some reason) NASCAR racer Danica Patrick — during this week's San Diego Comic-Con. This won't be the only time characters from Sonic's universe cross paths with Wreck-It Ralph either, as Dr. Eggman and Sonic have both been confirmed to appear in the Disney's big animated picture later this year.

The director of Wreck-It Ralph, Rich Moore, couldn't be more excited about his character's inclusion in the racer, going to far as to say that Ralph's inclusion is "a dream come true" in the official press release.

"To have Wreck-It Ralph included in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is a dream come true. The film pays homage to the video games I loved as a kid, including Sonic the Hedgehog in a special cameo, so being able to see Wreck-It Ralph in a real video game alongside Sonic and other iconic SEGA characters is unbelievably exciting for me and should be a treat for fans!”

Ralph's inclusion may be a sign of more guest characters to come, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for the return of Banjo in the Xbox 360 version. Ideally, it would be great to have platform exclusive characters appear on each console — similarly to SoulCalibur II — but no one should be holding their breath for that one.

How do you feel about Wreck-It Ralph's inclusion in Sega's racing game? Which other special guest characters would you like to see?

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be drifting onto the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS, PS Vita, and PC this November.
