No World of Warcraft expansion would be complete without pop culture references, and Dragonflight is no exception with some clever callbacks to Yu-Gi-Oh! The quests in question can be found in various places across the zones of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight.

Players first discovered these sidequests in the Dragonflight beta, but with the expansion now live, the World of Warcraft community at large gets to experience these hilarious quests. The first quest, titled “The Heart of the Deck,” is located in the Azure Span in Dragonflight, while the second, “White Eyes, Blue Dragon,” can be found in Thaldraszus. The former grants reputation with the Dragonscale Expedition, while the latter gives some for the Valdrakken Accord.

During “The Heart of the Deck,” players help a mysterious apparition–quite literally a ghostly white dragon man with blue eyes–craft a new card, so he can play one final game and find peace. Players help the ghost create a new card based on the character by answering some questions prompted by the NPC. The apparition then uses the new Hearthstone Hero he crafts to win his final match, spitting out several quotes from Yu-Gi-Oh! in the process, before moving on.

“White Eyes, Blue Dragon” is an even more direct Yu-Gi-Oh! reference, as evident from its title alone. Players intervene in a Hearthstone match between a blue dragon named Setogosa and a bronze dragon named Yumadormu–obvious parallels to Kaiba and Yugi from the card-slinging anime. Presiding over the game, players watch as Setogosa blatantly bends the rules and summons a blue dragon to the field. Players must help Yumadormu defeat his opponent by slaying the apparitions, saving the bronze dragon’s fledgling Hearthstone club in the process.

Many players couldn’t help but appreciate the hilarious Yu-Gi-Oh! references in Dragonflight. With its focus on dragons, Dragonflight is the perfect expansion to make connections with the popular card game, especially with Kaiba’s own iconic Blue Eyes White Dragon being so well-known and often-memed. That Warcraft has its own card game with Hearthstone makes it an even more perfect vessel for comedy.

Players have plenty of other amazing sidequests to discover in Dragonflight. While tons of the quests have hilarious moments like these, others contain tear-jerking moments that have even moved World of Warcraft legend Chris Metzen to make a tribute to them. With Dragonflight’s focus on renewing the sense of exploration and wonder of World of Warcraft, players have plenty of mysteries both big and small to discover in the new expansion.
