A World of Warcraft: Dragonflight player has discovered an interesting detail with the baby Murloc offered through the in-game store. The World of Warcraft: Dragonflight shop offers expansion upgrades, character boosts, a variety of cosmetic options for additional purchase, and more, but one thing about the Baby Murloc back-slot transmog is more incredible in function than the advertisement suggests.

A Reddit user has pointed out that the Baby Murloc from the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight shop changes in a way that players may not have anticipated once they engage in combat. It has undergone many alterations over the years, but the concept of a baby Murloc was first introduced in World of Warcraft during a Burning Crusade Zangarmarsh questline, and the small member of the aquatic species has made several appearances along the way since. The Baby Murloc Satch-Shells were introduced to the in-game store in 2021, and since then, several World of Warcraft fans have purchased the cosmetic, but one detail about the item has gone unappreciated until now.

Reddit user Dack-janiels recently posted a World of Warcraft: Dragonflight screenshot showing their Blood Elf character in two different poses: one in a neutral pose and the other taking a combat stance. The baby Murloc on their back sits up with curious eyes as it faces behind the World of Warcraft Blood Elf when the armor-glad hero is standing still, but when attacking an enemy, the Murloc quickly hides until it's safe to emerge. True to its name, the Satch-Shell Baby Murloc will crawl back into its shell when the player initiates combat, with only two small eyes peaking through the darkness in anticipation of the battle's conclusion.

The Activision Blizzard post regarding this Baby Murloc Satch-Shells item suggests that the eggshells the small creatures hide in during combat are their homes, which could explain their sense of comfort inside them. There are three color variants for the baby Murloc, allowing players to choose between blue, green, and red, similar to the beginning of a journey through Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Unlike the aforementioned Pokemon titles, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight players will be able to transmog the Baby Murloc on any of the characters on one Activision Blizzard account, providing the easy ability to have one on a main and alternate alike.

Though World of Warcraft: Dragonflight players won't be able to unlock the baby Murloc spotlighted by Dack-janiels through playing the latest expansion content, there is a baby Murloc battle pet that's available for free in the MMO. Players that utilize the World of Warcraft shop may purchase the Baby Murloc Satch-Shells for $14 to see for themselves how dynamic the back-slot transmog is compared to other options in the dressing room.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is available now for PC.
