Simulation video games are an interesting breed. Most people correlate video games with, you know, fun. Not farming, driving a truck, or learning how to fly a freaking airplane! But we get it.

These types of games allow you to be someone else, experience what a specific job entails, and maybe even try on a different job for size. And yes, driving a truck through a calming landscape may in fact prove fun for some people. But these games are not fun. In fact, the following games are actually quite terrible. These are the ten worst sim games of the decade, according to Metacritic.

10 Bee Simulator - 58

Have you ever wanted to be a bee? Yeah, us neither. But that didn't stop Bigben Interactive and Varsav Game Studios from releasing Bee Simulator for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.

The summary on Metacritic hilariously sums it up: "Experience life from the perspective of a bee." The only thing is, being a bee isn't all that fun. It works well enough as an educational experience for children, but in terms of fun factor or production values, you could do a lot better.

9 Farming Simulator 16 - 53

Farming Simulator is probably the most popular and well-known sim game on the market. For some reason, people really like farming! Or messing around while farming. Either way. Regardless, the PlayStation Vita release Farming Simulator 16 received middling reviews from critics.

Many called it an inferior version of the console release, as the graphics were obviously cheapened and the gameplay lacked various mechanics and features that were present on the console release. Heck, you could just buy it on your phone! Forget this stupid Vita version.

8 Oh...Sir! The Insult Simulator - 51

We're sort of pushing the boundaries with the "simulator" genre with this one, but hey, it has the word "simulator" in it, so it counts! As you can probably glean from the title, Oh...Sir! The Insult Simulator allows you to hone your insult craft by trading verbal jabs with friends and family without, you know, actually insulting them to their face.

Unfortunately, the game was heavily criticized for its poor AI and bad grammar, as many of the stringed insults don't make any sense. But hey, there's a certain kind of charm in that...

7 Clock Simulator - 51

Have you ever wanted to be a...clock? Well, wonder no more, for Clock Simulator is here! The Steam description is quite something: "Click once a second. Every second. You are the clock."

Those who don't play on PC need not fear, as the game is also available on the Switch! There's a little more to it than just pressing a button, as most critics describe it as "a rhythm game," but they still admit that the gameplay is shallow and grows repetitive far too quickly. It's novel for half an hour, but nothing more.

6 Ship Simulator Extremes - 49

"Have you ever wondered how it feels to sail a half-million ton supertanker through the perfect storm?" So asks the game description, and we have to admit - who HASN'T thought of that!? Ship Simulator Extremes was released on the PC back in 2010, although it came and went without much attention.

Many critics enjoyed the unique water physics, but most complained about the game's generally unfinished quality. These included poor graphics, missing sound effects, and numerous glitches that made enjoying the game borderline impossible.

5 Bus Simulator 16 - 46

Bus Simulator is exactly what is sounds like. You drive a bus through a city, pick up and drop off passengers, and race against the clock while you try to keep your deadlines.

It sounds like it could be relaxing, but unfortunately, the horrible graphics and physics get in the way. Critics complained about the bus's terrible controls, the floaty physics engine that made driving difficult, and the terrible graphics that immediately pull you out of possible immersion. Which, you know, is the entire point of a simulation...

4 Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality - 43

Surgeon Simulator is one of the most popular simulators out there, although it places far more emphasis on goofy fun and wacky hilarity than genuine simulation. But critics REALLY hated Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality, a new VR version for the PlayStation 4.

They complained about unresponsive controls and a horrible implementation of virtual reality, both of which combined to make playing the game a frustrating experience. Stick to the classic game and forget about the PSVR version. Then again, most people have forgotten about the PSVR at this point.

3 Car Mechanic Simulator - 41

We certainly understand why Car Mechanic Simulator could be fun. It's a popular job that many people are curious about, and playing through a simulation would allow you to practice car maintenance from the comfort of your living room and without accidentally pulling something important off the engine of your vehicle.

Unfortunately, critics were incensed that the Switch eShop had the gall to charge for the game when it can be acquired for free on mobile. That, plus the game is just not that good in the first place. That doesn't help.

2 Farming Simulator - 33

When it was released in 2013, the Xbox 360 version of Farming Simulator was totally eviscerated by the critics. The complaints ranged wildly, and virtually every aspect of its production was taken down a peg. Most complained about the horrid physics engine and complete lack of simulation mechanics, like the fact that the farmers work for 24 hours every single day.

Add in some dreadful graphics and game-breaking bugs, and you have one of the worst simulators ever released. That said, it's not the only terrible farming simulator on the market...

1 Professional Farmer 2017 - 33

For some reason, Farming Simulator wasn't enough. Now we have Professional Farmer, and it is a worse game in nearly every respect. Professional Farmer 2017 was released for the Xbox One, and not a single person seemed to enjoy it. Many people simply called it a cheap imitation of Farming Simulator, which, let's be serious, is exactly what it is.

The graphics, physics, gameplay, sound - everything came together to form a stinky stew. We assume real farming is more fun than this, and that's saying something. At least with real farming you get to be outside.
