Since the Harry Potter books and movies came out, fans have been slightly obsessed with the trio of protagonists, Harry, Hermione, and Ron. It's completely understandable since the three of them have been on more adventures than anyone else, and they have managed to keep their friendship strong and their characters intact.

Or have they? While it's true that all three are fundamentally decent people and strive to do good for others, that doesn't mean that throughout the series they haven't shown their dark side too. And since we're talking about powerful wizards, even in their beginning, their dark side can be quite dark.

6 Ron And Hermione - Bad Romance

Harry Potter Lavender Brown

When Ron decided that he wanted to annoy Hermione, he went all out, not only dating Lavender but making her believe that the relationship could actually work, while not believing it himself. Apart from Hermione though, he also wanted to prove his sister wrong and show that he is not just a boy anymore. Doubly wrong reasons. Although there are many fans that claim that Ron was genuinely interested in her (at least in the beginning), it's pretty clear that the relationship should have ended long before it finally did.

Hermione did not take the relationship very well either. She was one of two roommates of Lavender and had a dislike for her, both for her ideas and personality. She even went as far as setting a flock of birds on them when they were together, something that showed how distressed she really was.

5 Hermione - Rebel Without A Cause

Harry Potter House Elves

Even though the reason behind Hermione's obsession with S.P.E.W. (the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare that she invented) is genuinely caring about others, she fails to notice the most important thing: that the house elves themselves did not want her help or to change anything really. She keeps pushing her agenda into everyone she meets, and when she is confronted she goes into a self-righteous rant about why things have to change - which would be well and good if the elves at least were on her side.

A more proper response to the way the elves were treated, would be to sit down and talk with them, learn about their true wants and/or needs, and then start rallying about those things. She jumped the gun, which ended in a lot of frustration and disappointment from all sides.

4 Harry And Ron - The Ball Was In Their Court

Harry Potter Yule Ball

Harry might have had good intentions, but the road to hell is paved with them, and on the Yule Ball, he really walked that road - and back. Harry went to the ball with Ron and their dates, Parvati and Padma, two pretty girls who were excited to have them as their dates, and they were also excited to be attending the ball. It became very quickly clear though, that the only reason they've asked them to go is that they had no one else to go with, or rather, they didn't really get the chance to go with the ones they wanted.

They spent the whole ball being miserable, not paying any attention to them, causing them to be miserable too, for something that was definitely not their fault. Apparently not being happy with ruining just their dates' ball, they also pick up a fight with their best friend Hermione and manage to ruin the ball for her as well. Not well played.

3 Ron - The Green-Eyed Monster

Harry Potter Goblet Of Fire

While it is understandable to be a little jealous of a best friend who is, apart from a superstar, always seems to choose the long stick, Ron's behavior when Harry got chosen to compete in the Triwizard Tournament was... Well, lacking class, to put it mildly.

Not only did he not believe Harry when he told him that he wasn't the one that put his name in the Goblet of Fire, but Ron also went as far as to badmouth Harry with others. Jealousy can be forgivable, but losing trust in a best friend and then gossiping about it? Tsk, tsk, Ron. Disappointed.

2 Harry - Ignorance Is Bliss

Harry Potter Sectumsempra

A lot of fans would support Harry in this, saying that he didn't know what he was doing but... Is that a good excuse? Draco Malfoy might be one of the most annoying characters in the books, but he is still a kid, and more than that, he is a fellow student of Harry, even if they are in different houses.

Even though he didn't know what it could do, Harry didn't really hold back in using the Sectumsempra curse on Draco, which almost killed him. He certainly must have known that it would hurt him, and even if he didn't have a clue, is that truly better? Or it just made him even more dangerous?

1 Hermione - Patience Would Be A Virtue

Harry Potter Luna Hermione Lavender

Hermione has the amazing ability to stay focused on her studies and always strive for excellence. She is also a loyal friend, and, having been raised with muggles, she understands people who are different, and she is compassionate... Wait, no, no, she's not. A prime example of that is Luna Lovegood.

Luna likes to see things in her own way, and her own way is a bit of "away with the fairies" mixed with "conspiracy theorists". Hermione, throughout the books, proves that she has absolutely no patience for Luna and disregards all her theories and beliefs like she is a second-class citizen. Not cool.
