A great new battle royale game has been announced, but it's not what anyone expected. Announcing Worms Rumble, a real-time take on the classic Worms formula putting 32 players against each other simultaneously. It's all of the same Worms craziness taken to an entirely differently level in battle royale form.

Those familiar with Worms know that it's typically a 2D multiplayer game where opponents take turns moving their worms around the map, targeting their enemies with increasingly weird weapons. Worms Rumble is still that, only in real-time instead of turn-based. The result is highly chaotic and action-packed gameplay.

For those who aren't into the whole Last Man Standing gameplay mode, Worms Rumble will also feature a Deathmatch mode. There will also be a feature called The Lab, in which experimental gameplay will be available to try out. There's much more than just a Battle Royale mode in Worms Rumble.

To ensure Worms Rumble is as accessible as possible, Team17 is also going to make the game cross-play enabled. Only PS4, PS5, and PC are currently confirmed for the game, but players across all platforms will get to fight against each other. It's unclear if Worms Rumble will be coming to Xbox platforms eventually, too.

Worms Rumble releases later in 2020 on PC, PS4, and PS5.
