The World of Warcraft: Shadowlands pre-patch has been out for over a week with improvements like revamped character customization and choosing where to level alts being well received by players. However, the community has also discovered some unique interactions because of class updates including a special one for hunters.

While the hunter class didn't get any major changes, their stable size was increased to 200 slots and they learned to tame new types of pets including the Cloud Serpent family. Since then, many hunters have been spotted through the zones and raids of Pandaria collecting many different Cloud Serpents. But a few individuals also figured out how to tame the friendly Rajani Warserpent's white-blue model and it requires some very specific steps.

How to School Your Serpent

Unless the hunter is a Pandaren race, players must first acquire the 'How to School Your Serpent' book. It can be purchased after reaching 'Exalted' with the Order of the Cloud Serpent. Compared to other reputation grinds, this one is much easier since players can do a repeatable egg turn-in quest besides dailies. Note that the Exalted character doesn't have to be a hunter to buy and use the book.

N'lyeth, Sliver of N'Zoth

The other required item comes from PvP in Battle for Azeroth zones with War Mode on. N'lyeth, Sliver of N'Zoth will appear in the player's inventory after 10 honorable kills and using it causes all NPCs to become neutral including the Rajani Warserpent. Note that the effect is a status buff that will be removed by dying, teleporting, logging out, or leaving BfA zones. Because of these restrictions, players must do their PvPing within the 8.3 version of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms until they get the item. Alternatively, there is a toy N'lyeth some characters may already have from previously killing 10 of their own faction with the buff. Either one will have the same effect, but players should check their surroundings before using N'lyeth since it takes 60% of health on activation.

Taming the Rajani Warserpent

Once players have everything, they must go to the Silent Sanctuary near Mistfall Village in the southern part of the vale. There should be 2 friendly Rajani Warserpent NPCs near the flightmaster. Before starting, check for other World of Warcraft players around and stand on the ledge below to avoid drawing further attention that could interrupt the process. Using N'lyeth will turn both Warserpents from friendly to neutral allowing Tame Beast to work. Channeling does aggro the Warserpent, but it doesn't hit very hard and placing a freezing trap beforehand will crowd control it for the entire cast.

Although players being able to tame this NPC certainly wasn't intended, Blizzard still hasn't fixed the taming method so it could be here to stay permanently. Allowing the Rajani Warserpent's model to be acquired now does save developers the hassle of implementing it on another tamable beast in the future. However, the elusive Ivory Cloud Serpent NPC that gives a rare World of Warcraft mount can also be tamed in the same way, much to the anger of many mount collectors. In the end, it may only be a matter of time until enough complaints put a stop to this so any interested hunter should definitely tame the models now.
