Engineering is one of the most fun professions in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, which has seen a huge overhaul in the Dragonflight expansion. Engineers can not only create weird and wonderful toys, such as a robot chicken called Quack-E but also some incredibly useful items such as S.A.V.I.O.R., which will resurrect fallen party members in dungeons and raids.

The new interface is much different compared to past expansions. It can look quite confusing at first, with different bonus percentages, difficulty levels, and item qualities being listed for each recipe. By following several simple tips, however, characters will be efficiently tinkering helmets, guns, and wrist pieces in no time.

7 Increase The Quality Of Items

The profession UI has seen a considerable overhaul in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, with the Engineer able to affect the quality of the items they create. The item level of the crafted goggles, guns, consumables, and wrist pieces will depend on the quality of the recipe and the reagents used.

The quality of an item is ranked in diamonds, which is stated in the Engineering UI. The quality will increase as the player earns profession knowledge points that are spent in the different Engineering Specialization trees. The quality of the ore used will also contribute towards the end product, which means pairing the Engineering and Mining professions is a good way to master the craft.

6 Grow The Specialization Tree

Engineers will gain knowledge points throughout their adventures in the Dragon Isles. These points are then spent in the Specialization tab to unlock a variety of crafting benefits. Engineering Specializations are split into four groups, which are Optimized Efficiency, Explosives, Function Over Form, and Mechanical Mind. Each discipline comes with its own unique rewards, such as Mechanical Mind allowing the player to teleport around the Dragon Isles with the Wyrmhole Generator.

Knowledge points can be gained in a number of ways, including through world quests and profession quests, as well as discovering one-time treasures. The Master of Their Craft storyline in the Ohn’ahran Plains will give the player a Dragon Shard of Knowledge, which also drops from Dragon Isle Elites, and will award the player one knowledge point and 50 Artisan’s Mettle.

5 Craft Powerful Head, Wrist, And Ranged Items

Engineers can create goggles, wrist pieces, and guns for themselves or other players. When a player levels their Engineering skill and recipe qualities, these items will increase in item level, stats and abilities. Looting a specific armor piece can be a difficult and lengthy process, but being able to craft powerful items that reflect the skill level of the player and the quality of reagents will guarantee a powerful equip.

Engineers can craft goggles and wrist pieces for each armor type, with secondary stats that can be determined by the optional reagents used. Hunters who choose the Engineering profession will also benefit from crafting guns such as Ol' Smoky, which has a classic gnomish aesthetic and can reach an item level of 418.

4 Make Gold Through Engineering

Engineering is one of the more diverse professions, which will allow the player to offer a wide variety of goods to other players in order to make gold. The new Crafting Order system, introduced with World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, is a great opportunity to make gold by completing orders posted by other players.

The Crafting Orders system lets players submit requests for a specific piece of gear, weapon, or consumable, with the item level and secondary stats they want. This is a great way for Engineers to make gold, as the player requesting the item will provide the reagents needed. Any skill points the player would usually gain from crafting a specific item will still be awarded, which means the Engineer can also keep mastering their profession while gaining gold.

3 Recraft Items To Improve Them

Each profession has the option to recraft items in order to increase its item level and stats. Because the crafter uses the old item to get the desired stats, recrafting is much cheaper than making a new item from scratch.

The secondary stat of an item can only be rerolled with a specific optional reagent, such as the Titan Training Matrix. Those who are not Engineers can have others recraft an item on their behalf, although it can only be done through Personal Crafting Orders. Unlike Public Crafting Orders, Personal Crafting Orders can only be done through players that know each other, which will mean reaching out to guildmates or friends.

2 Create Items To Make Leveling Easier

Engineers have the unique ability to create items that will make leveling easier, which are not just limited to gear and ranged weapons. Advancing in the Mechanical Mind Specialization Tree will allow an Engineer to create the S.A.V.I.O.R. device, which will allow them to resurrect the party in the event of a wipe. The Element-Infused Rocket Helmet will launch the player high up in the air, which can be used with the Goblin Glider to provide a quick and easy way to escape danger.

By spending points in the Tinkers Specialization Tree, Engineers can add helpful modules that can be added to gear. For example, the Alarm-O-Turret will detect enemy players who step into the radius. The Breath of Neltharion module will provide some extra damage, while the Plane Displacer turns the player invisible, allowing them to creep up or avoid enemies.

1 Engineering Optimizes Hunters

Hunters who choose the Engineering profession will be at an advantage, as several recipes learned from the Function Over Form Specialization can increase ranged damage. This includes Completely Safe Rockets, which has the chance of inflicting 2351 fire damage during an auto attack, and Endless Stack of Needles, which applies bleed damage to auto attacks. It is worth noting that these consumable items only last an hour, so Hunters looking to maximize their DPS may want to stock up.

The High Intensity Thermal Scanner is a permanent enchant which has the chance of increasing the secondary stat of a ranged weapon. Like the other items that Engineers can craft, these can be sold in the Auction House or through the Crafting Orders system to make some extra gold.
