World of Warcraft Classic Overpopulation Leads To More Realms

blizzard classic connections forum

The World of Warcraft Classic launch is finally just a few days away. As hype continues to build for the return of the vanilla WoW experience, Blizzard is doing everything possible to ensure a smooth launch. Players want to revisit the 2004 game mechanics and zones, but for the most part they would still prefer to avoid the 04-06 era server queues that kept them from playing.

Blizzard opened the planned lineup of World of Warcraft Classic servers for name reservations last week and the activity on those realms gave the company a better idea of how popular the nostalgic experiment is going to be. Players who have reserved a WoW Classic name are now being asked to consider moving to a new realm to help fight server overpopulation. Blizzard has begun marking many of the initially announced realms as FULL and announced a new lineup of servers that are scheduled to open Monday just before the game's launch.

Blizzard is strongly recommending that some players who have already reserved spots on the FULL realms consider switching to one of the new realms on Monday afternoon. Name reservations aren't available for these realms just yet, but they will be a few hours before the game goes live Monday, August 26. There are new options for both Normal and PvP realms on the way...

NA Realms

August 26, 2019 10:00 AM , we will remove the limitation on only creating a total of three WoW Classic characters per WoW account. Thereafter, players will be able to create up to 10 characters per Classic realm, for a total of 50 characters across all Classic realms per WoW account.

Additionally, at August 26, 2019 10:00 AM , we will open the following new realms in this region:

Incendius PvP Eastern

Bigglesworth PvP Pacific

Old Blanchy Normal Pacific

Westfall Normal Eastern

At this time, all realms that have a Full or High population tag are expected to experience extended queues. We urge players on realms marked Full or High to plan to play on one of these new realms to avoid the longest queues, and to help spread the player population as evenly as possible and provide the best play experience for everyone.
