World of WarCraft's transmog system allows for greater visual customization of characters far beyond that of the barbershop. Even with the latest customization options added in 9.0, it's transmog that makes characters truly unique. With nearly 20 years of content and thousands of pieces of armor to choose from, the style possibilities are endless.
When it comes to Warlocks, Blizzard has a fairly strong history of class set designs. Even the original Felheart Raiment set from tier 1 left both an iconic and lasting impression. It's not just tier sets that make great transmog options, however. Some players get creative, mixing and matching various sets and individual pieces together to create a distinctive Warlock that looks like nothing or no one else in the game.
Updated May 21, 2021 by Erik Petrovich: With the addition of the Shadowlands expansion for World of Warcraft, a huge number of new transmog fits and options are available for players. Each covenant has its own unique sets for each type of armor, and while some don't match the personality of the Warlock class, others fit Warlocks to a T. Players have also gone back to older content to find transmog options, resulting in popular looks from years past returning to current World of Warcraft fashion.
15 Venthyr Covenant Ebony Armor Set
The Venthyr covenant in World of Warcraft Shadowlands is home to the vampire-like Venthyr of Revendreth. While working through the story quests for the Venthyr, the player will slowly construct the red-and-steel-themed armor set unique to these otherworldly tormentors.
It's the perfect fit for a Warlock wanting to bring a bit of classic vampiric Chic to their aesthetic, and the wings almost make the player look like a summoned demon themself.
14 Necrolord Covenant Bladesworn Armor Set
The covenant armor set for the Necrolord Covenant, based in Maldraxxus, is one fit for any style of Warlock who doesn't mind showing off a bit of skin. The set closely resembles the style of the various powerful Liches in World of Warcraft, including sharp spikes and ghostly phylactery-like detailing.
The set also turns the wearer's eyes a misty green and comes with rune-embedded sandals. This set is fully earned while completing the Necrolord Covenant questline.
13 Legacy of Azj'Aquir Set
The Legacy of Azj'Aquir set is an armor set that first debuted in The Nighthold raid in World of Warcraft's Legion expansion in 2017. The set is perfectly emblematic of a Warlock's prowess in combat – the helmet on its own makes the wearer resemble a horned demon.
Each piece of this set drops from bosses throughout The Nighthold raid, including the armor set pieces that don't give the wearer a bonus. A few runs through this old raid should net all the pieces needed to look as terrifying as the Warlock's summoned allies.
12 Castle Nathria Cloth Armor Cosmetic Set
The cloth armor set that comes from drops throughout Castle Nathria is one that resembles a Plague Doctor from the Black Plague of the 1300s in Europe. While Warlocks aren't known for poisonous attacks, they are known for whittling down enemy health with damage-over-time attacks.
The Plague Doctor set drops from bosses throughout the Shadowlands raid Castle Nathria, most of which can be upgraded with Valor – no more farming stronger versions of the same gear over and over again!
11 Kyrian Covenant Discordant Armor Set
The Kyrian Covenant's unique armor set is the Discordant armor set, which while simple in design is perfectly suited for the Shadowlands-faring Warlock. The Kyrian are also one of the better covenant pairings with the Warlock class, making this an even better transmog option.
The set pieces are all earned while completing the Kyrian Covenant questline in Bastion, and can be enhanced with a new haircut to suit your personal preferences.
10 Custom: Eredar Lord
Three very popular armor pieces among Warlocks come from the final boss of Mythic Difficulty Hellfire Citadel in Warlords of Draenor, a very divisive expansion. Archimonde drops his own armor, previously unobtainable. It's not a set, but the three pieces are the only ones of their kind in the game and match well with many different armor options.
This custom set, inspired by the Eredar Lord himself, utilizes Demon Prince's Ascendant Crown, Mantle of the Eredar Lord, and the staff known as Edict of Argus which drops from the same boss. The Wanderer's Stitched Trousers fit the whole aesthetic, but only the female variant of these pants work for the set. Additionally, the Gnomish Casting Boots match very well.
9 Cataclysmic Gladiator's Felweave Armor (Elite Recolor)
The Cataclysmic Gladiator's Felweave Armor set is a great option for Warlocks. For this transmog, go for the elite recolor with more red tones. It's vicious-looking and tells the world this Warlock is ready for war.
Combine the set with Plundered Flamecaster Stave and the 3D Boots of Wrought Shadow for extra dimension. Overall, it makes for a particularly evil and witchy armor set with a nostalgic feel for long-time Warlock PvPers.
8 Corruptor Raiment
No Warlock's transmog collection is complete without the fan-favorite Corruptor Raiment. It's a stunning set from The Burning Crusade that still holds up today. This dark and brooding armor is the epitome of Warlock fashion and a perfect match for all three specs. It's adorned with chains, spikes, skulls, and glowing eyes.
Combine the set with the Brutal Gladiator's Battle Saff and Vindicator's Silk Footguards for an all-around match. Leave the belt off as the designs around the waist stand out and beg for 3D elements in an updated version.
7 Malefic Raiment
Warlocks must at least collect the helm from the Malefic Raiment if nothing else. It comes with a flashy effect that causes demon wings to sprout from the Warlock's back and flap menacingly. The whole set together, however, is both nostalgic and intimidating. Everything glows with an eerie, burning red as if the Warlock just sprung forth from hellfire.
Combine it with Infernoweave Boots for matching color as well as Zhar'doom, Greatstaff of the Devourer for an additional demonic pet. If any demon asks, tell them it was the last fel hunter who dared disobey commands. If the retro style of this set is a turn-off, consider the updated version that drops from Tomb of Sargeras in Legion.
6 Custom: Oh So Charming
Those seeking a more regal look or simply want to be a student of Scholomance, look no further than the Oh So Charming set by the Fel Fashion blog. It's an interesting aesthetic that many who play Warlocks may not even consider.
This set includes mostly Cataclysm pieces such as Mantle of the Faceless Shroud, Anraphet's Regalia, and Evelyn's Belt. Combine it with the Charmed Cierge Staff and Crafted Malevolent Gladiator's Treads of Alacrity to become the best student Scholomance Necromancer Academy has ever seen.
5 Conqueror's Deathbringer Garb (25 Man Recolor)
Fans of Warhammer Fantasy might appreciate the Conqueror's Deathbringer Garb. It includes haunting raven skulls and black feathers similar to those worn by the followers of the Raven God. What even the oldest Warlocks of Azeroth may not know is that deep under the dark cowl, there are glowing eyes.
While all three colors of the Deathbringer Garb are great options, purple stands out as one of the best. Combine it with the Heroic recolor of Lightning Rod and Pale Corpse Boots for this entire look. It doesn't quite match the raid it comes from at all, yet remains one of the most iconic tier sets in the game.
4 Gul'dan's Regalia
Some demonic masters wear their faction badges proudly. Horde Warlocks who enjoy showing a bit of patriotism in the field without wearing the standard-issue armor might prefer Gul'dan's Regalia. This rather spikey, Horde-only set comes from Trial of the Crusader in Wrath of the Lich King.
Combine it with the Sulfur Stave and Plague Scientist's Boots and become a true menace of the frozen north. That staff's color scheme matches the set nicely and adds more of a demonic feel to the overall set. Dawn the armor of a Demonic Crusader and put an end to the wrath of the Lich King.
3 Dark Coven Regalia (10 Man Heroic Recolor)
Become a true harvester of souls with the Dark Coven Regalia 10 Man Heroic Recolor. This set comes from 10-Man Heroic Icecrown Citadel in Wrath of the Lich King. Between the stitches, plaid design, and glowing purple runes, all will fear the malevolent scarecrow from hell.
Combine this set with the purple variant of the Scepter of Sargeras and (Heroic) Icecrown Spire Sandals for a complete look. Harvest souls and summon an army of little minions to cause chaos across the land.
2 Custom: The Beast of Deadwind Pass
They say among all the horrors that haunt the forboding trails of Deadwind Pass, one among them is feared the most. The custom Beast of Deadwind Pass set creates the guise of a robed psychopath who's completely blind and compelled by a giant void eye.
This set makes use of several unique pieces of armor such as the Circlet of the Chosen Dead from the Ensemble earned from Trial of Valor in Legion. The robes themselves consist of the Corrupted Aspirant's Silk set featuring robes, gloves, cord, and treads. What really pulls the set together is the caged eyeball, Uhnish Vwah, as well as the blade, Wintersail Sabre. While custom sets are neat, it's very easy to stumble into hilarious territory if players don't match colors well enough.
1 Shadow Council's Garb (Mythic Design)
Who doesn't want their Warlock to look like Gul'dan? Collect the armor of the Great Betrayer from Mythic difficulty Blackrock Foundry in Warlords of Draenor. Only the Mythic version of this class set is reminiscent of Gul'dan's armor. Adorned with spikes, skulls, and chains galore, the should piece occasionally lights up in fel flames, inspiring fear into all those who witness it.
For the complete look, combine the set with Seeking Ember Girdle, Furnace Stoker's Footwraps, and the Replica Staff of Gul'dan from the WarCraft film promotional period. While the set was originally worn on an old orc, it looks great on just about any Warlock whether they try to steal the power of the Nightwell or not.
