World of Warcraft is 12 Million Gamers Strong

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Orc

Yes, the MMORPG juggernaut that is known as World of Warcraft has reached 12 million worldwide subscribers. That is a lot of people. In fact, WoW actually has more subscribers than some small countries. At $12.99 to $14.99 per month, that's a lot of green. Cha-ching!

The 12-million mark was reached when Wrath of the Lich King was released in Mainland China, not to mention all the people getting ready for the impending Cataclysm expansion (check out our preview). If you've ever been curious about the MMO, but have not yet taken the plunge, now would definitely be a good time to pick it up the game. With 12 million people playing, I'm sure you wouldn't have problems finding a clan to join and conduct raids with.

CEO and Founder of Blizzard, Mike Morhaine shares his thoughts on the milestone WoW has accomplished:

The support and enthusiasm that gamers across the world continue to show for World of Warcraft reaffirms our belief that it offers one of the best entertainment values available today. We are as committed as ever to taking the game to new heights, and we look forward to demonstrating that with Cataclysm in December.

No doubt the champagne is flowing over at Blizzard headquarters. There's a strong possibility that the number of users will reach new heights when Cataclysm releases in a few months. Kudos to Blizzard for making such a wildly popular game. With Blizzcon coming up soon (schedule here), there's bound to be more information morsels coming WoW players' way. World of Warcraft is still one of, if not the best, MMORPG on the market today and it doesn't look like it will be faltering any time soon.

Now if they could only release Diablo 3 already...

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will be changing the world of Azeroth on December 7, 2010 for PC.
